Not ready to be open
Only had 1-8 and 12 open. It is winter here. They weren’t ready for play
Too many holes closed!
They should have had more holes open, I would have walked since cart path had ice and mud
Great-Life keeps ruining great courses
Played here in April- course was in horrible shape with Goose droppings all over the greens, fairways hard as a rock, and bunkers with absolutely no sand in them. This course is a great layout with many fun holes, it could be so much better (or even how it used to be) without Great-Life running it.
Not what it once was. Fairways and cart paths have seen better days
Remains a nice course, the conditions aren’t what I recall in previous visits as recent as a 18 months ago.
Unfortunate
I've played a lot of rounds at Deer Creek - over a long time-span (25+ years). The condition of the course is not good. Deer Creek was once a premier course in the Kansas City area - that is no longer the case. I love the layout, it is a great design. I do understand that it costs a lot to maintain a golf course and it appears that there isn't money to spend there. Bunkers range from poor to awful, there are many places where the rough is just gone. The fairways are mostly o.k. The greens are between fair and o.k. The 2 staff members I interacted with were both excellent (clubhouse and restaurant). I would play there again, but only because it is one of my favorite layouts around KC. That said, the current condition just saddens me.
Course has gone downhill
Was really saddened to see the course so run down. Don't mind paying the green fees when the course is nice. Used to bring out of town visitors here, but won't now until changes are made. Sand traps were a complete joke. My friends would classify 60% of the course as a "goat ranch" and it would be hard to argue.
Run down
A cool layout but has not been taken care of for many years now. We played twilight for $30 and I would not pay a dollar more than that. I don't think they have watered the course at all...it is hard as a rock Too bad
It’s a tight one!
The price was too good to pass up so I decided to finally give this course a go. The back 9 was closed and the greens on the front 9 were basically sand traps because they were treating the greens. The course is also very tight off the drive on most of the holes. If you have a slice or a hook you will lose a lot of balls. The front 9 is very challenging with a surprising amount of elevation changes for being smack in the middle of Overland Park. If the price is under $30 again I’ll go back in the future once I’ve got my driver figured out. The staff was incredibly friendly but the shop was not very well stocked and it seemed like they pulled a shop straight out of the 80’s and put it on a golf course. The golf carts were abysmal. I had to switch out my cart after the front 9 and I BARELY finished my back 9. Also the gas pedal got stuck at full throttle at one point and I almost ran into a tree. The brake locking mechanism didn’t work on the other one so I couldn’t stop on any kind of slope. I would say if you hit your driver straight and true and it’s for a hot deal it would be a very challenging and fun course if you can overlook the condition of the carts. As far as the greens are concerned I probably was just unlucky on my timing. Maybe they’re better on a different week. Definitely wouldn’t go for full price though.
