Great Course to Play!
It's a private course that has a few public tee times late in the day. If you can get on it's a great value and fun layout!
Soggy
Nice course, but drains slowly after rain. Was still cartpath only 2 day after rain. Price was high for wet conditions and lots of walking with cart path only. Probably nice during summer months.
Things I liked:
- Conditions were fantastic.
- Though it is a subdivision course, it did feel like there was enough room to get a bit “loose” off the tee.
- That being said, it felt like the demand quite high for your second shots.
- Good combination of long and short holes, with well-placed hazards all around the course.
- #11 might be the best short par 4 I played in the KC area.
- The staff were very helpful.
Things I did not like:
- Very slow pace of play. There didn’t seem to be any monitoring or concern.
Things important to me:
- Rather than posted rates, Ironhorse uses dynamic pricing thru their online booking engine.
- I rode in a cart for this round. Given the course layout meanders thru the subdivision at times, I’m not sure I would walk this course.
- Don't recall any water coolers out on the course.
- They do offer a branded ball marker.
Overall
We are from out of state. We make it a must play when we are in the area. Never disappointed. The senior rate was good. We are handicaps from 12-17. I wish I could play there more often.
Great course, fun challenging layout
Course is pretty short but demands accuracy. Really fun layout in a beautiful area of Kansas City. My only issue was that my group was not full of the best golfers and we waited on every tee box for the group in front of us which we didn’t mind but the group behind us hit into us a couple times off the tee and when we were walking off the green. It was a late tee time so I know they were wanting to finish before it got dark but just the lack of courtesy at a course of this level was discouraging. I won’t let a few bad apples ruin my opinion of the course but the day would’ve been more fun for us.
Great Round of Golf!
I had an out of town friend play with me today and we had a great time at Ironhorse in Leawood. What I like most about this course is that if you hit good shots you are rewarded, bad shots not so much. Course is in excellent condition, I just wish more people would repair ball marks on the greens.
A MUST play in KC area
If you are going to play golf, this has to be on your playlist!!! The day was fabulous from meeting the starter to loading the clubs in the car at the end of the day!!! The course is gorgeous and is challenging yet theres enough tee choices for your game. This facility is top notch!!!
Interesting course
The course played really well in spite of all the rain during the week. The rough was really bad....I lost a few balls in the rough or that maybe just plugged, but that was to be expected. The layout was really good but just tricky for a first timer. I would play there again.
The staff was awesome.
It was raining this afternoon. Hence, I was the only one on the course. Which is perfect for me. The course was in great condition. They are aerating this week like everyone else in the area. So if that matters to you, please stay away it means I’ll have that much more fun. :) The staff was great and I’ll definitely be back. It’ll probably cost significantly more however the course is one of the better ones in the area and it’s worth the cost.
Course was very wet. But always love Playing here. One of my favorites. You'd think that the members that play here and guest. Would take better care of the greens... In especially for the price. Pitch marks we're really bad .. green speed was superb. False fronts were slick. It was a great test...
