Grouchy Pro Shop Attendant
Course was great, amenities were nice, but the pro shop attendant was in a horrible mood. Feel sorry for the guy
Great place to play
This is always a great place to play the greens has always been in good shape everything I played here been mowed good never had any complaint the only problem was there was a group of 7 playing 2 group ahead of me but a ranger came and broke them up bright leaf is a resort and have 27 holes course plus a 9 hole par 3 course I love the course will keep on co.ing back
EM MW outing
The course was beautiful very well taken care of Restaurant was very nice good was good . Will definitely be back . Had a great experience.
Great Course, Great Day
Playing golf in December in Ky is a blessing and Brightleaf was a blessing as well. Staff in the pro shop was very kind and very professional. Great day, great venue. Thanks
Worst Greens Ever
If you like putting on wet carpet these are the greens for you. Slowest softest greens I've ever seen. Hadn't rained in a week. Made a pitch mark on a 5 yard chip shot. Fairways are good tho.
Awesome experience
I have never had so much fun playing golf in my entire life. Everyone was so kind and respectful. I watched a large group (dressed in hilarious costumes) pick up random trash that they didn't leave and throw it away in trash cans. I also noticed them fixing multiple ball marks left on the green by other players not in their group. This is a prime example of how to take care of a golf course. My only wish in life is that the next time I go this group of fine young men are there (especially the gorgeous African American that drove the Tesla.)
Had a tournament of what seemed to be frat boys running around with no shirts. Litter everywhere. Crashing golf carts. Signs of the Saudi tour tacked up to the tee box plaques. Fake money all over the ground. Party popper paper everywhere. IT TOOK 1 HOUR TO PLAY 4 HOLES!!!! Pace of play was horrific. I did not even tee off on the 5th. I just left. When I called the pro shop to complain they knew that this group had a history of this behavior, but they still allowed them to play. Very poor decision on part of the owners, but then again it’s not like they are going to be the ones cleaning up. Just feel very sorry for the very nice staff there.
Bright Leaf a Winner
Excellent course, friendly staff, windy cold day but played anyway.
Resort Course That Offers 3 Courses
Resort has an 18 hole, 9 hole regulation and 9 hole par 3 course. All are fun and worth the play. The green site conditioning was great on all three courses. The Regulation 18 hole and 9 hole courses sit and the hilliest part of the property and have several very memorable tee shots and holes.
Good value
Restaurant was closed for season mid-October. Planed on eating there but was left with minimal food choices
No management
The course restrooms located on the various holes are DISGUSTING. Also, no management here. Group in front of us has 8 people with 5 carts playing together. No ranger in sight. Come here if you have 12 hours to play 18.
Groups
I picked the one day to drive down from Lexington to play Bright Leaf. Tee time was 9:04. At 9:04, there is a 4some on the tee box. After teeing off, they go back to their room, to change clothes. We are on the tee box about to hit and they breeze back by us up to their balls. This is when we found out there was a massive party playing the course. No big deal, you have to play somewhere, why not here?
Playing through the first 4 holes or so, there is screaming and yelling coming from every group on the golf course. People playing with no shirts, loud music all over the place, smoke bombs on tee boxes etc. I’m all for people having a good time, but there is a time and a place. There was a 4 party jam on hole 5 I think, but once it cleared, the pace stayed slightly below average, but pace doesn’t really bother me, I’m used to slow play. All of this keeps up until around hole 11, then the course finally starts to quiet down. Until we reached 18s fairway. There were atleast 30 members of the group standing behind the tee box, yelling through megaphones, different kinds of noise makers, screaming at the golfer just to try and mess them up. 18s green is right next to 1s tee box. Needless to say, finishing was a hassle, and the group was making remarks about us on the green, even though we never even looked at them. This group shouldn’t be let near a golf course ever again.
Also, whoever Mark is, drew his name in one of the greens with his putter. And someone was foot dragging the whole green up. Why I had to choose today to give bright leaf a shot? I don’t know. Will this deter me from coming back to bright leaf? Probably. The course was in average shape. The greens were a little slower, and bumpier thanks to Mark and crew. And the Maintenance guy said this crew was out there last year, and should have never been allowed back, but here we are.
Great shape for December
I wasn't expecting too much being it was windy and cold in December but was pleasantly surprised at how well the course still looked considering cold weather.
