Eighteen Fun Holes
I wanted to update my review to talk more about the front 9. My prior review of Wildcat talked a lot about the back 9, while stating that I didn't love the front 9.
I've had the opportunity to play Wildcat several more times in the past few years, and I've come to really enjoy the front 9. It's quirky for sure, but it's really grown on me. In fact, the stretch from 5-9, with 2 par 5s and a driveable par 4 is really great!
As always, Wildcat remains a tremendous value at $14 to walk! Highly recommend.
Great Value
I last played Wildcat about 10 years ago and I didn't remember it fondly. But my friend insisted I go back. I am so glad he insisted. We paid $14 for 18 holes and had a blast.
The Good:
Wildcat may be the most affordable course around. As I stated above, the cost was just $14. My friend's dad lives on the course so we used his cart. The back 9 at Wildcat is a great set of 9 holes that is challenging and architecturally interesting. Also, the greens are very good and are tricky to read.
The Average:
Overall the course condition was average. But not any worse than you would find at any other local, public course with greens fees under $40.
The Not so Good:
I don't love the front 9. It was built first and it's just kind of goofy. There are 3 par 3s and none of them are particularly good. And with the routing around neighborhoods the variety isn't there like you experience on the back 9.
I highly recommed Wildcat for the value golfer. I think it is fun and fair but not a push over.
