Getting Better
I have a love/hate relationship with Ellis Park. I've played it 50+ times, and actually won a tournament at Ellis in the mid 2000s. The big reason for my love/hate relationship has been that I never felt the course was maintained the way it needed to be.
I decided to try Ellis again after watching my friend win the Sr. City Am there. I have to say I was really surprised by the improved course condition. The fairways were in great shape and the greens were thicker and quicker than I remembered.
I still have one big problem with Ellis. The design of the greens is awful. The 18th green is especially offensive. It is like they buried and elephant in the middle of the green.
Ellis Park is priced very fairly, and with improved condition, is worth playing. Just come prepared for silly greens.
