Poor Shape OMG!
Though I got a deal at $13 for buying it 2 hours before tee time, I feel I got taken. This had to be one of the worst shaped courses I have ever played. We had a good rain the night before and they sent me off on the back first. Almost all of these fairways had very little grass and a lot that they did have was new and could not play off of. If I hit it down the middle (which most I did) than you had to tip toe out to get your ball, clean it off and lay it in the 1st cut to play. The greens were not a lot better. Many burn areas and just mud there too. Not sure why they sent me off the back, as the front was better. Could have given the back more time to drain. Never said cart paths but I was smart enough to figure this out, but the grass cutter guy was not as their were tracks right in front of many greens. Also a very basic course. If you can grip and rip you will do well if you do not get too bored. I used Driver, 7, SW 90% of the holes.
Pro’s, the carts were very clean and ran really fast! With the very skinny cart paths, it made for some fun on this quickly layout of concrete. Cannot say I will ever return.
Fun course for beginners
This course is very short. I've played it several times but have never seen it in as bad of shape as it was in today. The course obviously has had issues with draining water recently. Several greens have unplayable spots on the edges where the green appears to have burned up then drowned during heavy rains causing it to turn into a mud pit. My ball literally plugged in mud on the first green today. Some of the holes require thought but most are very straight forward.
Prairie Trails
Great pace of play.... challenging holes and love the greens on the front nine - so much better than the “original”greens. Great choice to re-do them a few years ago. Some greens are kind of worn but no big deal to us. Wish clubhouse still had bar area for post-round drinks. For money can’t beat it. Throw in 45 minute drive from Wichita and it is still more economical and quicker than round at Wichita municipal course.
Father’s Day trip
Great day of golf. Staff at check could not have been more accommodating.
Nice Course
The course and the members I talked with were very nice.
Up and Coming
Course has character. Very short but you have to manage your misses or an out of bounds drive or short side miss can add a few stroke to your round real fast. Is a fun lay out but i wouldn't recommend for a golfer that plans to walk.
This coarse was challenging. The greens were fast and unpredictable. The coarse was fun will play it again
Fun course
Always a fun course to play. Front nine greens are getting better. Always worth it.
Nice course, horrible customer service
This course does not like customers using Golfnow...they clearly emphasize their dislike every time you check in...wont be back
Great Course
This course with its new greens and widen fairways plays Fantastic. Challenging however the course makes you think.
Rained out
Great course. Brand new greens on the front nine. Way better than they were. Unfortunately we got rained out six holes into the round.
Renovations helped a lot, cheap and way worth it
I've played this course a lot over the years but haven't in around a year. I was in town recently and played it. They did an amazing job renovating all 9 greens on the front 9. They are now built with more complexities making them more challenging and visually appealing. They also have better irrigation to make sure they stay in better shape which already looks to be working great. the front 9 fairways were in good shape, I wish there was some more difficulties on the front 9. They have added bunkers which have helped but still a little easy. Overall the front 9 is much better then it was before, great job. The back 9 has always been In great shape and much more challenging. I've always liked this side more, but the front 9 is much closer now. The two 9's play a conllon rely different layout and style which helps mix up the course which is enjoyable. The staff is very friendly and the overall xourse and clubhouse were in good shape. They do need new ball washers though. Overall I was please with it and the course is worth the money for now 18 solid jokes of golf. I look forward to coming back and hope to see the continual upgrades.
Bad Layout
Just didn't like the layout....Too easy to hit into groups coming the other way. Some of the holes were difficult to find. Not enough directions from one hole to the next. Very hard to discern the greens from the fairway. Short 5 ft high flags...very hard to see from the fairway. One and done for me. Won't play again!
Great staff, nice course
Under construction, looking to improve on a nice course. Good value.
Prairie Trails and the Trains
If you like a challenging golf course and you like trains, then Prairie Trails is an ideal golf course for you.
The course is in great shape with the rains this year and offers many challenging holes. You will usually be hitting the ball at an uphill or downhill green and on a dogleg.
If you like trains, there is one about every ten or twenty minutes that you can see from about anywhere on the golf course.
Dave and his staff are there for your enjoyment and will get you on the course quickly and efficiently.
Great time for the $!!
The fairways were in good condition but the greens showed a summer's worth of wear. At the discount rate, it was more than a fair deal. Fun course.
2 different courses
The front 9 was nice, but short and the greens were rugged at best. Back 9 was immaculate longer and pristine. Should very been priced at about 25 bucks with the shape the front 9 was in.
Decent course with good staff.
Overall a good course. The greens were a little chewed up in spots but just made the course a little tougher.
