Want to play the best public golf courses in Kansas?
GolfPass releases a Top 10 Public Golf Courses in Kansas every year thanks to YOU. We create our annual Golfers' Choice lists by curating the reviews submitted by everyday golfers. We use GolfPass' Ratings Index logic that weights newer reviews and combine it with a course's subcategory averages.
Each course needed at least one review and at least some public access to qualify. Some top public golf courses are located near Kansas City, while others reside closer to the farmland and prairie spread throughout the state.
We make our Golfers' Choice best-of lists user friendly. Simply click on the photo of each course to learn more about the facility or to book a tee time (in most cases).

Best Public Golf Courses in Kansas
-
Cherry Oaks Golf Course
Green fee: $28-$31
What they're saying: "Course was in great condition. A few spots in a couple of fairways were needing work but otherwise it was great. The layout is pretty open and fairly forgiving making it good for beginners. Pace of play was good but still got backed up quite a bit on the last few holes. Will definitely go back again as the cost per round was very reasonable." - maparicio -
Falcon Lakes Golf Course
Green fee: $64-$68
What they're saying: 'One of our favorite courses to play in KC. Hard to get on at times but well worth the wait. Play it while you can because they will probably be private soon." - mauriceokeefe19 -
Spring Creek
Green fee: $35-$39
What they're saying: "I had heard good things about this course but it is about an hour and 15 minutes from where I live. Decided to take my son there for my birthday and glad I did. The person working the front counter was super friendly, took us outside and showed us around and we had a great time. The greens were the fastest I had putted on all year, and the course was in great shape even though we hadn't had a lot of rain. We almost had the whole course to ourselves. I would highly recommend a getaway to this golf course. You will not regret it." - rvs0002 -

Green fee: $29-$40
What they're saying: "Always enjoy getting to play a round of golf at Carey! The revamped course is great fun!" - SPenrose -
Firekeeper Golf Course
Green fee: $50-$60
What they're saying: "Course is the story of two 9s. Front 9 is prairie golf and back 9 is traditional parkland over hilly terrain. Course conditions were solid for winter golf. Must play if in the area." - hornedwoodchuck -
Atchison at Bellevue Golf & Country Club

Oak Country Club
Green fee: $29-$34
What they're saying: "The hole designs were pretty cool and I liked the layout. Number 18 is pretty great obviously! I will definitely be back to play again." - GolfPass Reviewer -
Prairie Trails
Green fee: $25-$40
What they're saying: "Course plays shorter than it is which is a lot of fun. Has some fall maintenance so beware some fairways are rough. But staff made up for and course issues with their kindnesses." - GolfPass Reviewer

How do you end up with a top 10 with courses that reviewers rate as only 3 1/2 stars? How do you overlook the bevy of golf courses in Kansas with 4.5 to 5 stars, including courses on several top 100 public courses in the country lists?
