The course conditions were really really good.

I only played the back 9, but the fairways and greens were in significantly better shape than they used to be under the former ownership.

Really like the layout. Seems like a course that wouldn't get boring even if played often, and the layout offers a good challenge in terms of ball placement and precision. Staff is really friendly and grass ranges are always a plus. Expect some rough conditions at times due to renovations, but I highly recommend for a practice round to improve striking

So i want to be fair here. River downs has a lot of potential and is under new ownership. The new owners are trying to bring the place back from the dead, and the course reflects it. But given the situation I would say its worth giving a shot. New/newer carts, a course that is obviously under revitalization, nice clubhouse and some promising off course amenities make it a worthwhile deal. A bit overpriced for the current state but still i think worth the money to invest in a course with great potential. Staff is a bit light but you cant overstaff a business you are trying to bring back to life. All in all I'd play again. Just keep expectations in place and you will be pleasantly surprised.

I showed up and was told I must have not read the fine print bc there was no back 9, I needed to skip the 7th hole, and there were temporary greens. Wild.

You play nine holes twice, as the course is being renovated. It still makes for a fun day of golf, I would play there again. Can''t wait to play there when they open up the whole course also.

They are in the process of reseeding all the greens. They only had 9 holes open, with temporary greens cut into the end of the fairway. The price was low and there was almost no one on the course. It was around 100* that day, however.

Decided to give this course a try as new owners have taken over and seem to be putting in the work to turn this course around. It’s certainly a work in process and only 9 holes were open at the moment. There is definitey potential here once more modifications are completed. Course was challenging, but that was what I was looking for. Had a great time!

The course is no longer taken care of it and no one is there

River Downs is a beautiful but difficult course in the Carroll County countryside. As an amateur/ beginner golfer I feel that if I can learn to play well here I will be able to play better at the other courses in my area. I accept the challenge, will you?

It was a beautiful day and the course was practically empty. I only attempted nine holes but didn't actually finish all nine. There were a number of holes that this 75 year old golfer could not negotiate. The greens and the fairways were fine but the layout was impossible for me. I will not play or recommend this course for anyone of my age and ability. The course was not handicap friendly.

Showed up to course just to find out the course was closed...no email from course or golfnow and no way of contacting golfnow to find out about a refund
