Ladies, speed up!
I think when it takes you an hour to play 3 holes, pace of play should be addressed. Ladies, speed up! Not trying to be insensitive, just a matter of fact. Course conditions were perfect. I always enjoy playing this course.
Did not honor GolfNow rate
We booked a $32 round on Golfnow.com. When we arrived at the course we were informed that they were not honoring that rate, and we were charged an additional $30 per person to play. They said that the website didn't reflect the current rates because of the Covid shutdown. Pretty disappointing, as we could have golfed at a nicer course for that amount of money, but at least the weather was nice and the pace of play was good. We finished 18 holes in under 4 hours.
Great shape! New carts!
Hog Neck just upgraded to GPS carts! In addition to the nicely uprgaded carts, the greens were in phenomenal shape. Best I've ever seen them. Looked for divots to fix, found only a few. Pace of play (10am Thirsday, under 4 hours) - zero complaints.
Today’s play
Weather was beautiful. Course layout is very challenging tree lined fairways. Greens in very good shape. Fairways still need to turn green with the season. Would play again
THe curse uses zoysia grass which is
The course layout is nice. The fairways, however, were anything but. They use, I assume, Zoysia grass and its completely brown. So its, of course, not so much fun hitting a ball off that surface. More frustrating is that while you can; 't ride on the fairways -understandable - you can't,, as other similar courses allow,, drive on the rough. All in all a bit of a long golf day. Will be back but not until the fairways green in.
Good course but no food or beers till April 1.
Staff was great and the course has a good layout. It was in good condition but the fairways haven’t greenned up yet which was expected for this time of year. I really like this golf course, only downside was pro shop was open but the restaurant and bar where closed for the winter still. Would have liked to grab a few beers when I made the turn. Maybe in the future the pro shop could sell beer when the restaurant is not open.
Great value, challenging, very enjoyable
Starts off with a great group in the pro-shop, a very acceptable driving range and excellent practice areas. Then onto a really good track that has some challenges and some birdie opportunities. The front 9 is fairly open but the back 9 closes in quite a bit. Best to play with someone who knows the course due to some hidden opportunities to splash a few balls and take less than driver on a few others. Public golf course that has improved greatly over the last couple of years with the decision to improve the course and its amenities.
No marshall
Play was exceedingly slow. There was a 3-some in front of us that was exceedingly slow. At the turn I went into the clubhouse and asked the person at the counter if they could have the course Marshall speak to the 3-some to speed up play. - the response was there is no Marshall. I will reconsider playing at this course again.
It rained
It is one of my favorite courses, the greens were slick, and the course or should I say my swing made it difficult to score well.
Great course!
GOOD COURSE TO PLAY
FRIENDLY STAFF - FAIRWAYS IN GOOD SHAPE..GREENS ARE GOOD. ALWAYS A GOOD COURSE TO PLAY FOR A VARIETY OF GOLFERS.
This place is a hidden jem!!!
This course is great I got lost trying to find the place but Even tho I showed up late they made accommodations for me . Also ate the biggest cheeseburger ever and it was amazing. From the pro shop to the little food shack everyone was great ..except bob the starter he was a dick but everything else was great .
Fun layout
Hogs Neck is one of my favorite courses in the area. It is well maintained and the layout is fun. It is a course you can use all of your clubs, which is rare for longer hitters. The course rewards you for good shots and does not try to target golf you to death. The course has a feeling of being open, but there are some tight fairways with woodland areas and water holes. The staff is very friendly and trys hard to be helpful. The course is well manicured and the greens are true and rolled. They are a very fair speed, but putts can get away if you let it. The fairways are lush for the most part, excluding some fairways on the back which are recovering from excessive rain. The traps are full and have good fluffy sand. The carts are electric and are dated, but do the trick. The pace of play is somewhat slow, but not annoyingly so. Finished a daytime round in just over 4 hours. Always an enjoyable round, where I can be in the low to mid 80s to mid 90s, depending if kept in the fairway. I highly recommend.
Average.
Heard good things about Hog Neck and drove over an hour to play it. We arrived late due to traffic and the staff was very friendly and got us out quickly. Aside from the bunkers the course was in very good condition even after all the recent rain. The layout was boring and not unique in any way. No hole stands out as a hole to remember. On top of this the pace of play was brutally slow as there was a foursome followed by 3 twosomes. An average experience probably won’t bring us back due to the long drive.
Such an Amazing place to play a Round
If you are heading to or back from Ocean City, you need to stop at this course. Last year, I played the course and to be honest, it looked run down and old, with damaged spots on greens and fairways. Fast Forward to my recent round and all I can say it "AMAZING". When we arrived, a Senior Tournament was going on, so the Starter told us to tee off on 10. When we got to the Tee-box we had the fortune of playing with 2 female golfers, one of which is the Club Champion. When we finished the back and headed to the front - No body was around, which made playing the front Super Quick. Such a beautiful place to play, have lunch of just chill at the driving range.
Slightly dry. Greens very hard
Most of the course was very dry and hard surfaced. Greens dry but putted straight and true.
Wonderful public course.
Having played MANY eastern shore courses, this is a great deal. The championship course offers 5 sets of tees ranging from 5100-7100 yards. Incredibly nice staff, conditions and practice areas. The pace of play is consistently under 4.5 hours, even on weekends. Wonderful little course cafe offering sandwiches, crab cakes, pizzas and anything you may want to drink.
If you want a quick round, try the executive course. Or if you are looking for a place to take your young family, a great place to start.
On the way to of from the beach? Perfect.
Easy drive from Annapolis.
