Course Review
In looking at the course it appeared green and in decent shape. I was wrong. The Tees were in good shape. The fairways were extremely hard, alot of bare areas and bumpy. You could hit a ball in the fairway and it would run and bump along and end up in the thin rough or the woods. The greens were smooth but extremly slow.
Fun Course
This isn't a bad course, it's a bit dried up on some fairways. The greens are good; this course provides some challenging holes. Overall it's a good place to play and I'd play here again.
Not the worst course I've played
The fairways are in terrible shape. You can hit a drive straight into the middle of the fairway, catch a pile of rocks, and end up bouncing hard right or left into the woods. The greens were recently areated, yet they are still hard. The tee boxes are in good shape, but that's the last thing I care about. There was no water on the course and no beer cart, but thankfully we didn't die from dehydration. I broke 90, so that made me happy, but I'd still rather have drank a 12 pack and shot a 100 on a nicer course. I'd play again for $20, but it's not worth $45!
Greens and tees good. Fairways too dry
This was the first time they took tee times at this course and the staff handled it well. Friendly staff. Ball rolled a ton but often into the woods due to the dry rocky fairways. Greens were in good condition and a nice challenge. I would play here again. Course is nicely laid out. Easy to navigate.
Great Value
I haven't played Stone E Lea in a couple years, but it is in good condition right now and I am guessing will get better through the Fall. It's not the nicest course ever, they have dirt areas in the rough (most courses do), but the fairways are good, the greens are very good, and the tee boxes are solid. The front 9 is challenging simply because it forces you to be accurate and smart off the tee, but the real fun starts on the back. There are a handful of great holes. It's the better side, but both are fun to play. The course has a great bar and snack shop/kitchen/grill in the clubhouse, great prices on beer and tasty food. This is the type of course Ill play when I have extra time, my wife wants to come along, or Im looking for a quick 9 or 18 to just get out and play some golf. If you have never played here, don't expects 5 star experience but given the value, it's well worth a few visits a year. The staff is overly nice, seems like a family owned operation I'm happy to support
Good value for the money
This course may not be Augusta, but it provides batter value than others in this area. It doesn't have much water or rough tall enough to lose balls in, but it has lots of dog-legs which make it feel long
Not good
There are way too many better options in the area.
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
Thank you for playing at Stone E Lea. We are sorry to hear about the bad bounces! We do have drinking water fountains available on the course, I'm sorry you must have missed those. For any golfers looking to have a beer on the course, we have quick access back to the clubhouse after hole 4, 9, and 12. Thanks!
