Fast greens
The greens were consistent all day. Very challenging. Great course from the money.
Money makes everything shoddy
The coulee would have been great course but the owner trashed this beautiful course for money. Building houses and condo has cut the course They should rather make this course 9 holes. Shame.
One of my favorites
Great course for those who like longer holes. Great condition and excellent price for the course.
Nice course, poor design and terrible staff treatment
We called early to let them know we were running late & the clubhouse refused to switch our twosome into another group. Which only the staff had an issue with.
The other golfers were incredibly friendly, and even remarked how half the holes you are in danger waiting to shoot because so many pathways to tee boxes are in the line of fire. So it was great being friendly with each other, since the staff was rude and hypocritical regarding cart paths - when half of the holes didn’t even have cart paths.
I used to golf here many years ago. It was always a decent track. This visit was the worst I’ve ever had here. The course has been downgraded jn length due to overbuilding on the premises. The clubhouse is a trailer and the food cleanliness etc was horrible. They may as well put an outhouse and just have a shack to check people in. It would look nicer. The price was fair and the course has a good layout just real minimal upkeep except maybe the greens which were in nice shape I’d say for April. For being within the price range of several other area courses this is the worst of the bunch.
Awesome course and layout
The course with the exception of holes 10-12 which were wet beyond belief… was in great shape and will definitely play again once all dried up. Course is challenging and definitely will make you use all clubs in your bag. Greens were great and true. Had medium roll and once dried up make your putts on point or you will be double putting those lip outs. If you want a challenge this is the place for you. Staff and patrons friendly and fun. You can play this course in 4-41/2 hours easy.
Excellent greens, fairways, tees and course. Major improvements constantly happening.
I started playing Crystal Lake about 6-7 years ago. At that point it was in need of a lot of work. I have eye witnessed that work being done over the last several years. It had a long way to go, and besides the construction between holes 8 and 9 it has come that long way. The greens are how they should be and are very well kept. As good as any I’ve played on in North America. Fairways are always great and being kept up and the tee boxes are some of the flattest and fairest for a good setup line at your target. In the clubhouse I always found the staff friendly and this year the hotdogs were outstanding. I also like the fact that they have a good fleet of new Club cars. I have been very impressed with the amount of high quality improvements. It would be nice to see at least some sort of area where are you could go and hit a few balls. Even if it was into a net. Besides that I really enjoy playing at Crystal Lake. I’m excited to see just how good it will be in a few years from now when all the construction is done ! Major Kudos to greens keeper there if it’s the same guy that has been around the last few years.
Love the Course
I really enjoy playing Crystal Lake. The course is in great shape, the greens are well maintained and fast, and the course is very walkable. Couldn't ask for a better experience. The clubhouse isn't much to look at and it usually full of loud and drunk patrons but if you're there for Golf this is one of the best courses in the surrounding area.
Going to play it again next weekend.
Very nice well kept course.
Hot Dogs were great too
Beautiful course, slow pace, impossible greens
Well maintained course, very slow pace of play. The greens were impossible. It's conflicting for me to be writing this review because the course is very well maintained and the greens are beautiful, but they are incredibly quick and the slopes on them will take a ball well off the green even if barely moving. Sometimes even the uphill puts will stop short of the hole and roll back, past you, and off the green.
The course is always in great condition, including the greens. The layout can be challenging for all levels, but still fun for a high handicapper. The staff are player friendly and fun to interact with. And I’d highly recommend a round.
