Great place
Great place to play golf. They are making some major improvements to course, new tee boxes and fixing bunkers. Nice clubhouse with great views. Highly recommend.
Very challenging for beginners
This course has a few areas that are under construction but was still fun playing 18 holes.
Grip it and rip it
I took my Dad golfing on a beautiful Saturday. Staff from pro shop to starter friendly
and knowledgeable. It is a very challenging course and I loved it, but my Dad 75 had to skip the long holes.
Drove an hour and it was worth it, but a little tough for seniors like my Dad.
It rained but its still a fun course
The weather was miserable but the course conditions are good. I would have liked to know that the greens on the back nine had been sanded because they were unplayable in the rain. But at that point it was just about hitting the ball around the course and not necessarily getting too worried about making a 10 footer.
great deal, good public course
The course is well laid out and in good condition. Some tee boxes being re-built which made for two very short holes. First four holes nice gentle introduction to course, front nine generally rather short, but back nine is great, with plenty of contour and interesting holes, many the type you want to play again once you see how it should be played. The smart play on many holes is to keep your driver in the bag, but of course you don't and you regret it later. Stay left on the 18th.
Great lay out
Course was in ok condition. Some bare spots on the fairway. Made it a bit tougher to play the ball down as we did. Challenging course, great lay out. Greens need time to heal. A bit bumpy. Would be a great playable course come mid summer.
The course is in pretty good shape but I had to walk off after nine holes it was just a cluster they had a five some out there it was just crazy
Nice layout and fairly challenging course.
Course is challenging off the tees as there are woods along both sides of most holes and it’s difficult to look for your ball with all the poison ivy. Greens are in good shape. Staff are usually very friendly but during my last visit I specifically asked if there were any temporary greens and was told no. Only to find one on the second par five. Shouldn’t the pro shop know course conditions? I also went in to get a drink at the turn and it took about ten minutes before the bartender showed up to wait on me. Fortunately we had a little room from the group behind us.
Nice golf course that needs some repairs
Nice golf course except cart paths need to be repaired. One of the holes tee area had dirt pile and the Hole number plaque should have shown detour and did not causing myself and fellow golfers needing to make a dangerous U turn with our electric carts. Be nice to see some pretty flowers planted.
Restaurant staff very nice. Bathroom near Pro Shop was smelly. Needs air freshener. Pro Shop was good. Good supply of pencils, score cards and ball markers. Liked that there are Gold markers at holes for senior golfers.
Lots of holes being reworked. Many tee boxes were only temporary. No cart girl was working that day and no water available on the course.
Challenging Course
Can't wait for all the new renovations to be done...it was awesome before, can't wait to play again!
Major construction
We knew there was renovations going on but were surprised by the aeration of the greens.
The staff was pleasant and doing everything they could for us to have an enjoyable time.
Good value
Nice course, some challenging holes, some wide open areas. Lots of elevation changes. Currently under construction in some areas but not with a major impact on play (Except for the green side bunkers).
Great coarse
Loved the coarse. Very challenging. Down side some greens were under repair but overall I will be back when they are done
Work in Progress - But What Promise!!!
This was my first time at Sandwich Hollows this year. I played it several times last year as a Golf Nower. There is a ton of construction going on at SH at this time. That translated to one temporary green, several temporary tees, lot of GUR and several unusable traps. And the greens had been plugged probably within that last 2-3 weeks. Normally, SH is a fun, well maintained course to play with some amazing holes on the back side with extreme altitude changes. Courses like SH need to be supported. Too many courses are being converted to condos or allowed to return to a natural state. SH is clearly making an effort to be a better course and I look forward to seeing the course when all their hard work has been completed. The tee and bunker work that is going on should produce fantastic results. The staff at SH could not be nicer or more pleasant to deal with. I write this review so that golfers will know what to expect and will be less likely to angry about the conditions. The course is definitely playable and still fun to play. Just have patience with the construction work and look forward to improvements that will make Sandwich Hollows an even better value for your money. And it's not as if you're paying a lot to play. $20 for 18 holes with a cart? You may never see such a deal at Sandwich Hollows again.
