Major construction
We knew there was renovations going on but were surprised by the aeration of the greens.
The staff was pleasant and doing everything they could for us to have an enjoyable time.
Good value
Nice course, some challenging holes, some wide open areas. Lots of elevation changes. Currently under construction in some areas but not with a major impact on play (Except for the green side bunkers).
Great coarse
Loved the coarse. Very challenging. Down side some greens were under repair but overall I will be back when they are done
Work in Progress - But What Promise!!!
This was my first time at Sandwich Hollows this year. I played it several times last year as a Golf Nower. There is a ton of construction going on at SH at this time. That translated to one temporary green, several temporary tees, lot of GUR and several unusable traps. And the greens had been plugged probably within that last 2-3 weeks. Normally, SH is a fun, well maintained course to play with some amazing holes on the back side with extreme altitude changes. Courses like SH need to be supported. Too many courses are being converted to condos or allowed to return to a natural state. SH is clearly making an effort to be a better course and I look forward to seeing the course when all their hard work has been completed. The tee and bunker work that is going on should produce fantastic results. The staff at SH could not be nicer or more pleasant to deal with. I write this review so that golfers will know what to expect and will be less likely to angry about the conditions. The course is definitely playable and still fun to play. Just have patience with the construction work and look forward to improvements that will make Sandwich Hollows an even better value for your money. And it's not as if you're paying a lot to play. $20 for 18 holes with a cart? You may never see such a deal at Sandwich Hollows again.
The course layout is great.
The bunkers were under construction.
The greens were plugged and fertilized.
Once all construction is complete, this course will be a gem.
Lot of work going on to upgrade course.
Nicest muni course ever played.
Very friendly staff.
Great food and drinks in clubhouse.
Will be back soon!
If I had a home course, this would be it!
I love this course...challenging....and when the new tee boxes and traps are finished it will be even better!
great value
I booked this for my two sons and myself for 18 holes with cart and paid a total of $71.00. Excellent for the price and course -fairways and greens were in pretty good shape after a harsh winter. A lot of course construction was going on with the sand traps and this could have helped the scores at those areas were out of bounds and there were drop areas close by. It was cold and windy when we started off at 1045 am but by 1 pm it had warmed up some what.
Need to police the regulars
This is a nice course and a good value. It’s a muni, so a little rough around the edges, but the grounds staff works hard with limited resources to make it as good as they can.
Unfortunately some of the regular players lack respect for the course and other players. It’s not unusual to find cigarette butts and sunflower seeds even on the greens. The sunflower seed situation has been an ongoing one for years that the management had not been able, or willing, to correct.
What Golf should be
Go to Sandwich Hollows many times during our off seasons. The Superintendent & the pro shop staff are always helpful. The course has done a lot of off season work around the tees & greens. There are basically no housing developments around the course, which makes the golfing experience all Golf. It is so pleasant and calming. I love coming to this course because I am so relaxed when playing this course. There are a great variety of hole throughout the 18 holes. The 18th hole is the only water hole, and the three finishing holes are a good challenge. Overall, a good experience, and hope you have a comfortable round. I always enjoy my experience here.
Nice day - fun round
Course is doing a fair amount of off season work but was very playable and in good condition. The pace of play was very good and we had an enjoyable round.
Too many temps
Good course and very nice people but
Too many temp greens - and a lot of work being done (which is understandable) but golf now should let the consumers know that there are about 7 or 8 temps
Best Bang for your Buck!
Best deal on the Cape by far. Where everyone else raises prices, especially in the summer, this place, stays the same and is always in good shape, kuddos to the ground crew.
You can play in under three or under 5>5 hrs, depends on who is in front of you. It can be packed at times.
Greens are always good and 99% of the time, fairways are in good to great condition. Staff is always friendly. It is a pleasure to come here.
Stay away in the Summer!
It's not a bad course, in fact I kind of like it. But the conditions are not great, the staff at the counter couldn't be ruder or less helpful, and the pace just plain stinks. Slow, slow, slow. The course attracts hackers due to the low greens fees in season on the Cape. Play it for what it is, but play it in the off season!
even the burgers are over-priced
one would think a cape course under $30 is a bargain, but at the hollows that's STILL way over value. the course is very under-maintained (could be decent if mgmt didnt drive it into the ground), everyone playing on top of one another (see prev comment). then on top of that you can get a fantastically charred burger for over $10 at the turn!!! mmmmmmm. if i could rate some of these items LESS than one star, i surely would.
we purposely stopped playing that course and instead play better valued coursed on the cape or at pinehills. we will no longer be an enabler to letting the hollows keep doung what they are doing. and you shouldnt either.
Nice condition for time of year.. Excellent Bar/Restaurant
Have played here a few times. Considering the amount of play, it is in very good condition. As expected a bit chilly in December. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
