Greens
The course was in wonderful shape, and the greens were in perfect shape. Very nice to put on fast and true greens!
Pace of play for first nine was average. Pace for second nine was the slowest I have ever played. Spent over30 minutes on a par five waiting for the foursome in front of us. No rangers making people keep pace, unacceptable!!!!
Love it
Played eagle before but not Falcon, reminds me up up north golf , my new local favorite!
Challenging for Intermediate Golfer
Absolutely loved this course - played the “hawk” and it was well kept with good pace of play. Hole design was moderately difficult for the average golfer, yet very fun. Green speed was much faster than other local courses I’ve played. Fairways, rough & tee boxes all well manicured by the maintenance staff. Golf carts were newer and well kept.
Reasonably priced for how nice the course was, will definitely be back in the future.
Another Course Bites the Dust
It is with sadness I add one of my once favorite local golf courses to the DO NOT PLAY list. Pine Knob Golf Course in Clarkston, MI. 3 9-hole courses (Eagle, Hawk, Falcon). Five times so far this year I’ve had to walk off in the middle of a round due to pace of play. The final straw was this weekend. FOUR foursomes at a time waiting to tee off with groups in the fairway and on the green. The Marshall himself told me “We can’t control the pace of play. It’s not what the owner wants.” It was painful watching people abuse the course by not replacing divots, not repairing ball marks, and driving next to the green. Even tire tracks from a cart ON a green all the way across. The golf cart attendants said they weren’t surprised at all and it’s like that all the time, and they have to hear complaints all day long. The pro shop attendant took down my name and number and said she would have the owner call me. Guess who never called? Very sad that this once very nice course has become just another run of the mill course trying to make as much money as possible from the golf craze created by the pandemic as it’s one of the only things people could do last summer. GOLF AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Good Course
Played here because there was Men’s League at Oakhurst that night...good value, would definitely play again!
Nice greens and fairways
Very nice fairways and greens. I enjoyed the coarse as there is some water that comes into play on some of the tee shots. The greens were consistent as far as speed, but difficult to read as the grain direction really seemed to influence the putts.
Beautiful Course
We played the Eagle and the Falcon. They are both really scenic. Conditions are excellent and the greens are very fast (as evidenced by my numerous 3 putts).
Unfortunately, we were stuck behind a slow foursome for the entire 18 holes. It took us over 5 hours. Ranger was around a couple times per nine but didn’t appear to ask the group in front of us to pick up their play.
Great course. Will definitely go back but perhaps not on a Saturday morning.
Trouble in Paradise.
I've played golf at Pine Knob for over 25 years and every experience I have had there has been exceptional. Today was a different story I was in a foursome and had a threesome playing in front of me. The threesome continued to play two balls off the tee on many of the holes. They not only slowed my play down they slowed down the play of every group behind me. The group behind me drove a ball that narrowly missed me by five or six feet. The course Rangers were helpful but unfortunately they did not push the pace enough. They were notified of the slow play however they stated they could not find the threesome that was playing directly in front of me. Then on the turn for the back nine they inserted a twosome in front of my group and behind the slow playing threesome that plagued my first nine holes. It took three hours to play the first nine holes. The second nine holes were not that much better that took two hours in 45 minutes. I know it's a holiday Sunday, however that is all the more reasons why the course ranges have to be diligent and move the groups around the course. I will never play on a holiday weekend unless it's at a private club.
Pine knob golf course
First time there, great course!! Tough greens!! Great hot dogs, and they serve them with Grey Poupon!! LOL!! Is it worth $+$50.00......ehh. No, but the drink and food prices were reasonable!! One trade off for another. Didn't see the beer cart girl Until the eighth hole on the front nine and non-exsistant on the back.
The course was immaculate though. If you can get a deal, go!
