Bedford Valley Course at Gull Lake View Golf Club and Resort
About
Gull Lake View Golf Club and Resort boasts five championship courses, all of which have scenery provided by southwest Michigan's beautiful lake region. The golf course has a convenient location that is easily accessible from Detroit, Toledo, Chicago, Grand Rapids, and Lansing. It is a favorite spot for golfers throughout the Midwest and Great Lakes. Bedford Valley might be the most well known of the five since it has hosted numerous events over the years including the Michigan Open, Michigan Maxfli PGA Junior Championship, and the NCAA III National Championship. The golf course is known locally as "The Big Course." The aptly chosen nickname originates from the layout's massive greens bordered by large, deep bunkers and the fairways that are lined with towering, mature oaks. Golfers appreciate the course's shot values and the challenging but fair test it offers.

Classic golf course
Course was in great shape. Very classic course with bunkers guarding most greens. No trickery in course lay-out, what you see is what you get. Ranger was super friendly and some slower groups let us play through. Greens were a tad slow for my taste, but overall a great golf course.
Very rude cocky bearded guy went by TR I believe
Never ever ever have I ever been treated or spoken to like that in a pro shop of any golf course I have ever been to.TR was the guy's name I believe. He has absolutely no business in any way shape or form in customer service. Him and him alone is the only reason I will not go back to that golf course.
Nice course, SLOW play
Beautiful, well maintained course, but the foursome of regulars in from of us wouldn't let our twosome play through and were VERY SLOW
Why you SHOULD play Bedford Valley Country Club
Booked round the day prior on GolfNow due to golfing being a last minute decision, and we were happy we picked Bedford Valley. The course was in good shape, which was even more impressive considering it is the end of September. I was hesitant to play here due to being part of Gull Lake View group - played Stoatin Bay two weeks ago and the course was in horrible condition. Bedford Valley changed my perception of the group.
There was limited merchandise as well as beverage/food options, but I’m guessing that is due to playing near the end of season. Merchandise was 30%, so if you play this fall check out their pro-shop.
They had new carts (gas) which were nice. The carts don’t have GPS which was a drawback, especially not knowing the course and/or distances to hazards. If you use a GPS app or range finder you will be fine.
There weren’t many cart paths, so at times it was confusing where to go for the next tee box, but it is easy enough to figure out quickly - just know you may make a wrong turn or two.
There was standing water in some bunkers, but unless the course can control the weather I’m not sure you wouldn’t run up against that same issue anywhere.
The course reminds me of a northern Michigan course with trees surrounding it, and in the fairways. I loved the layout, but if you don’t control your drives you may not enjoy this course. There is distance to some of the holes, and well placed hazards / tree-lines to ensure if you hit a great shot you are rewarded if playing against someone who may hit the ball a mile but has no idea where it is going.
There wasn’t water coolers or bathrooms on the course - which is a drawback - especially if you play on a warmer day.
Overall, this is a good course and one I would recommend to anyone wanting to go out and golf. I would play again.
Golf
Very good especially with power outage in the area.
dont forget your sand wedge
Beautuful course tree line fairways with mature trees and a lot of sand traps through out the course a good test of your game
Ladies Red tee adjustment
I played and only got 2 to 5 yards advantage from the gold tees on 80% of the holes. The ladies should have a separate tee which would reflect ladies avg. distance from very long hitting Senior men golfers.
Two to 5 yards is NOT enough difference ....
60's design of Mid-Michigan blah
Played 5 out of the 6 Gull Lake View courses last week. Rank this one 3rd best. Really friendly staff and really good conditioning. Decent but dated clubhouse and facilities. Driving range. Practice green is not representative of what you'll find on course...it's too small and sloped. A decent fairly open enough design but mainly it's just a hit over/around sand traps and tree avoidance course.....then a putting contest on some larger than normal mainly elevated green pads. I'd play it again but there just aren't any holes that stand out so much that would make me want to travel to play them again. If I was local I'd probably play Bedford just once a year or less. Our group was on a package deal but overall I'd give it a 40 value/3.5 stars.
Bedford 1of 5 great Gull Lakeview courses
Great course and layout, staff was friendly and the course was in great shape.
Even with all the rain lately...
Course was in great shape even with all of the rain. One of my favorite local courses, challenging, but fair.
Nice Course
Pace of play was a little slow due to a 2 man scramble if front of us. There wasn’t any cart paths anywhere on the course which was odd. But overall a nice course.
Greens
Greens were a little slower than I remember, but only play there once a year.
