Bedford Valley Course at Gull Lake View Golf Club and Resort
About
Gull Lake View Golf Club and Resort boasts five championship courses, all of which have scenery provided by southwest Michigan's beautiful lake region. The golf course has a convenient location that is easily accessible from Detroit, Toledo, Chicago, Grand Rapids, and Lansing. It is a favorite spot for golfers throughout the Midwest and Great Lakes. Bedford Valley might be the most well known of the five since it has hosted numerous events over the years including the Michigan Open, Michigan Maxfli PGA Junior Championship, and the NCAA III National Championship. The golf course is known locally as "The Big Course." The aptly chosen nickname originates from the layout's massive greens bordered by large, deep bunkers and the fairways that are lined with towering, mature oaks. Golfers appreciate the course's shot values and the challenging but fair test it offers.

Always a good experience.
I really enjoy Bedford Valley. Fun and challenging layout, very friendly staff, nice pro shop, and they’re often making nice improvements. They were doing some landscaping and tree work when we played, but you can always count on them to make it beautiful when finished.
After playing a few southern courses recently, it felt good to be back on the Michigan turf.
Highly recommend.
Course torn up. Tree stumps everywhere, sticks everywhere
Had major tree removals, counted about 40 stumps on two holes. Greens aerated in spring also. This course should be closed until it is platable. Turf in horrible condition. This is a total mess.
Awesome course
We played quite late in the season after a couple of cancellations due to the weather man; however, the day was nice with a light sweater and the sun came out to make it perfect.
The course is in excellent shape, especially for this time of the season.
We will be returning here again ASAP.
A quaint Michigan gem
I played here Mid July and loved it. It is the quietest course I have ever played. Extremely thick forest all around the course. Really incredible track, in my opinion. Great conditions, nice tees and firm greens. The clubhouse was very nice and the staff was friendly. Nice golf carts and they had nice bathrooms out on the course, which was a definite boost to the value. Great holes and a challenging course. My friend and I both loved it. If you are errant, you will lose a lot of balls. Pace of play was nice, everyone moved along well. The hole design really helps move play along. There were not any bottle necks on the course that I ran into. Definitely give this track a try if you are in town, you won't be disappointed. A real treat for locals, as well as tourists,
Good layout and Great value
First time visiting and really enjoyed this course. Tree lined course with nice fairways and well maintained greens.
No course ranger
The course is fantastic. Unfortunately they have no course ranger to keep up the pace of play. Our first 9 holes went on pace. However on the back 9 there was an 8 some playing that backed everyone up and our last 9 holes took over 3.5 hours.
Nice course
I found this course challenging, yet forgiving. Beautiful scenery and a very friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Great course
This course is a Perfect Blend of everything. Half is out in the open Sprinkled with trees some elephant grass and the back is cut right through the woods. When you take a divot in the Fairway it's just like butter. The greens are well taken care of and are just the right amount of fast. Love playing there.
bedford valley
nice out of the way location all gull lake view courses are immaculate, bedford vally is probably the hardest,i shot mid nineties and still had a great time
Great Old Style Course
If you like the old style country club courses this is a must play. Course is in great shape and challenging.
Nice layout. Great old trees.
Had a great SUNY afternoon. Played in 3 hours. Greens rolled true. Teeboxes in fine shape. Looks like they lost a lot of trees but still a lot left. Long course. Over 7000 yards from tips.
Nice layout.
Greens were in good shape. Watch the grass on them as some downhill putts go with the grain and the ball keeps on going.
Beautiful golf course
Bedford Valley is one of my favorite golf courses to play. It is a public course with country club quality. The fairways and greens are like carpet. Always fun to play Bedford Valley.
Great Value!
A friend of mine and I played Bedford Valley on Monday using a Hot Deal rate. The course was in great shape and the course was difficult, but playable for all levels.
Great Course
The course was in great shape. The greens are very fast and the fairways are tight.
Great track, needs a ranger
We were excited to play this course and drove 90 minutes to come play it. We started and the guy behind the desk indicated that people were not playing fast that day and he was right. After waiting 10 minutes between each shot (it took 2:30 to play 8 holes) we just decided to bag it.
I am hopeful to replay this course and try to get out earlier in the day because it truly is a hidden gem. The course was in immaculate condition and the greens rolled true and were not too fast.
It's too bad we were not able enjoy the day as much as we would have hoped. We are accustomed to play 18 holes in 3:30 to 4:00 hours and a 5:30 to 6:00 round is just not doable for us.
Excellent Course, Guy Getaway
The course itself was in great shape. Lots of length options for all skill levels, interesting layout and greens with contour without being extreme. Tees, fairways, rough, bunkers and greens all in great shape. The main challenge comes from the narrow fairways with overhanging mature trees and lots of doglegs. To score well, you must be driving the ball well and be able to work the ball left and right. Straight drives normally will either be through the fairway or leave longer shots to the green. The rough is not penal if you are off the fairway and finding balls is not difficult, but expect to have to navigate back to the fairway through trees without much chance of reaching the green in regulation.
One warning ... this is a popular guy getaway. The course was alive all day with inebriated yells, whoops and hollers. Not a good choice for couples play ... there were no women in sight. The tight fairways, tipsy golfers and lack of any on-course assistance contributed to painfully slow play on the back 9.
We stayed at the villas which were decent digs, but expect party central.
Bottom line ... a very nice course that is well maintained which is great for your guy getaway. If you are a couple looking for quiet resort golf away from the gentelmen's club crowd, we suggest you look elsewhere.
