“True North” Star
North Star is a classic, no frills course in the middle of Michigan, which can also be considered the middle of nowhere. 45 minutes from everything doesn’t mean it’s off the beaten path…it’s right on US27 and couldn’t be easier to find. The clubhouse staff are friendly and accommodating. Their carts may lack frills, but they are clean and reliable and served my son and I well during our Sunday morning round. The course was in great condition and pace of play was cruising. It’s a flat course, but there are plenty of mature trees to keep things interesting if you find yourself in the rough. Most importantly, it’s a beautiful course. Birds were chirping, woodpeckers were pecking, and my son and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the feeling of being immersed in the outdoors. For me, few courses offer the comfort and serenity of North Star; this is golf at its finest. It’s a casual course, but one of my favorite public tracks and shouldn’t be confused with nearby Buck’s Run or The Emerald, but North Star has no shortage of people, great play, and great value.
Good, short 18 for a quick play
Course was fun, easy to navigate and overall a pretty good experience. Would come here again
Nice course
The are putting in ponds. Funtimes. Let you get out early.
Best Value in Mid-Michigan
North Star is a basic, but fun and well maintained track. Their equipment lacked frills and features, but carts were clean and well-maintained. The course itself is very flat, but the maturity of the trees more than make up for the lack of dynamic terrain. The staff are friendly and literally make you feel like family during check-in. While you’re at North Star, you’re missing out if you don’t try something from the kitchen. Their subs are phenomenal! This pizza sub is my favorite. As I understand it, the sauce is made in-house and is truly in a class of its own.
Course was in very good shape. Green were surprisingly fast. Very well taken care of.
Good course for beginners with enough challenges for experienced golfers too!
Overall, this course was in great shape, (although the bunkers could use a little TLC) the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. There are a lot of short and straight par 4's, which made it great for my two young golfers, but enough trees and dog legs to keep me on my toes. We had a fantastic time! :)
