Beautiful day for a round of golf. The course was well manicured and we enjoyed our day.
Great course, weird layout
The course was great, greens were good, course is well manicured...the only negative thing was the layout and lack of signs....there were many people lost trying to find the next hole due to the crazy layout. There should be more signs to point you to the next hole
Balanced Course
Nice layout with both left to right holes, and right to left holes. Some challenging landing areas with hazards. A good challenge for the average golfer.
Old Time Golf!!
I love the old fashioned layout and have been playing BR since it was private. The owner is starting to get this place back in shape, but in this day the greens were quite slow. If you like old fashioned courses that aren’t backbreaking long, this is the course for you. When open the restaurant and bar are above average. Great value for the money!
Course in great shape
Enjoyed our outing, course was in great shape and pace of play was really good even though course was busy!
Weather was great, golf course in good condition and had a great time.
One of the best public courses in Metro Detroit area
WAY UNDER-PRICED
Needs around 300 trees removed,
But, canopy has been raised and trimmed.
A golden age private club that has been public for many years.
Hosted many Michigan Opens.
Good and bad
Tee boxes horrible, greens shaggy and slow. Fairways very good,course layout is very enjoyable. Amenities are very good. Plenty both good and bad about course.

What can I say?
Just one of the best courses anywhere. Thanks to the always warm welcome by Matt, we always enjoy Black River. Conditions were somewhat north of great today.
Groundskeepers are always friendly and considerate.
Nice Course
Course was a really great play. Pace was quick, staff were friendly and course was in great shape. Only low points were that the bunkers definetly need more sand and course layout is a bit confusing to follow. Overall great course though and will definitely be back to play again.
