Black River Country Club

The new owner has definitely made improvements. Club has new golf carts and bag drop area. I've never seen the course in better condition since it became public many years ago. Course conditions were excellent. Greens were fast, fairways mowed, and rough in great condition. They have trimmed many of the big trees and fertilized the entire golf course and it shows. Highly recommend playing this course because there is no better value for playing a top notch layout than Black River.

First time playing here ! Going back today course in exealante condition fairways are tight lots of traps . Did not loose any balls hit a few trees but a nice place

Course and staff were mint! 3.5 hour round. A good challenge. Definitely going back.

Greens were in excellent condition. Pace of play was good. Around great course to play.Accuracy and distance off the tee required. We will return.

I'm not really one to write a review, unless a place is really bad. However, I felt obliged to write this five-star review for the golf course. I play here about once every two years, and I must say I've never had a problem with the golf course. I am a stickler for good greens, and was impressed with the way these rolled. I'm a member at Torrey Pines in San Diego so I really hold a golf course to high standards. If you play here I don't think you'll be disappointed. Some of the holes are a bit longer, even from the white tees, and it is a good challenge for golfers of all skills.

Fantastic layout, decent length, very challenging. Mature course with great old trees. Greens were in excellent condition, tee boxes good not great. They could use some work on their fairways to create more definition from the rough in some areas. Was s spectacular course way back when but money issues has taken it down a notch, That being said, still a great value for the $.

Overbooked or poor tee time management? We had a 10 AM tee time and didn't get off until 10:45 AM. First tee backed up, no starter and multiple twosomes were allowed out. Total round took 5.5 hours. Have heard this is a ongoing problem here. Course itself is in excellent condition, mature trees and challenging length. Be prepared for a long day.

Black River is a classic old layout with tight fairways lined with mature trees. Greens are pretty accessible and allow for scoring. Pace of play was slow but it was a Sunday afternoon so you can't really complain.

My first round @ Black River became very memorable when I aced the par 3 13th hole for my first hole in one! And it ended with a severe t-storm that swept in with hail as I finished 18.

Overall, it was a very good day! I'll certainly be back.

We really enjoyed the course. Great deal from Golf Now. Course was in very good shape, couple rough spots but nothing big. Greens were good, fairways in good shape. Some fairways are narrow but we enjoyed the course and would go back.

Have always wanted to play here and was not dissapointed!

This is a old course , I recall seeing club plaques dating back to 1928. It's a nice course but has some drawbacks which will catch you if you never played before.
Cart paths and direction to next tees are not well marked and criss cross close to other tee box playing areas so keep an eye out.
Seeing that it's an old course it has many huge and beautiful tress which makes some fairways and green approaches very tight. If you are off the Fairway it's tough to get out safely because of the trees but you can find your ball as tree bases are fairly open.
I'd play again and recommend it if you are in the area.

Arrived to the course and was forested by an attendant with my cart , slightly used and showing age but preformed well.

Nice driving range with grass and matts. Putting area was good size

Course is moderately narrow with large trees lining most fairways , bunkers need some attention, but we played near end of season .

Small greens that are lightning fast

Have been playing this course for a few years, and I never leave unhappy. The staff and the facilities are always first class. The course is laid out wonderfully, offering a great outing for any skill level. The greens are pretty fast, but don't let that deter you. Longest I have ever had to wait to tee off, is 30 seconds. The groupings are always spaced out enough that you are not waiting, or feel like someone is breathing down your neck

Nice track with difficult greens. Tee boxes could use some attention but the greens were in good shape. The 18th was left a bad taste in my mouth. Didn't like the layout.

Course in great shape would play again. Nice layout with good elevation

Mature trees line the generous fairways. The greens are excellent with subtle breaks. Water is not the factor you might expect, although the Black River borders the course. The staff was friendly and helpful. A great value!

There wasn't much difference between the rough and the fairway so that needs work. The greens were okay but slow as they were just aerated. Club house was very outdated and hasn't been touched in years and years. It was a nice day but overall a nice course that needs work. We are finding Fore Lakes the best course so far. We live in London and go over for the golf.

Difficult to find without a GPS. Friendly staff. Showed up late for my tee time. I called to inform the pro shop and they made room for us when we arrived. Good day

This older, tree lined course offers a challenge to all levels. Ample fairways on most holes but second shots and shots around greens present challenges. Vey well maintained, would certainly recommend to play if you have the opportunity.
