Solitude Links Golf Course & Banquet Center
About
Solitude Links Golf Course & Banquet Center in Kimball is one of southeastern Michigan’s premier courses. Golfers from the Detroit metropolitan area and Port Huron and even as far as London in Ontario, Canada flock to the golf course. The layout is spread across gently rolling terrain with both woodlands and wetlands, providing a diverse mix of holes. The greens are large and fast with some mild undulation, some are even ridged or double-tiered, but good shots will be rewarded with level putting surfaces. The tricky opening hole is unique in that there are two greens, which makes it so that it can be played as a par 4 or a more daunting par 5 that plays over water. The challenging island green makes Solitude Links' par-4 eighth another memorable hole. Though you may get a break from the water on the back nine, at least on four holes, sand then becomes a more prominent hazard.

Must do Annually
My husband and I escape each Canadian Thanksgiving weekend for a weekend of golf and Solitude is a must stop at each year! The course is always in great shape - the staff are friendly and it offers both friendly and challenging shots. Highly recommend!
No ranger
Got out after an outing …. No ranger to force pace of play seemed to have some slower groups ahead of me. A lot of waiting on tee boxes… paired myself up with another single on the back 9 to slow me down
Great course
Course & greens were in great shape. Got a great hot deal for Wednesday at 10am and played in 4 hours as 2 someone;. 15-20 minutes further but the price and condition make it worth it. Chris in pro shop great guy!
Needs phragmites cut down, terrible weed growth
First time here, hubby and I drove a bit of a distance to try a new course, hopefully not as crowded as the courses close to us.
The phragmites were so tall and volumous that nearly every green was a blind shot. We lost at least a dozen balls. No rangers , so a entitled twosome behind use passed us up, and then we had to wait on them.
All the rest of the staff was very friendly.
Probably wouldn't play again bc of all the tall weeds that are supposedly protected.
Great Round
Wonderful round on a perfect day. Only down side was my brother had difficulty driving this particular round and in a blind rage broke his his driver on the ground. He then pouted the rest of the game.
Five stars.
Invaded
Have played this course intermittently over the many years since its inception as Fore Lakes. After today, I believe it will be the last time. The course is overrun with Phragmites. Roughly 2/3 of the holes now have blinded approach shots due to their overgrowth. Several tee boxes are unusable due to their height of the invasive weeds (see photos). The bridges look ready to collapse and geese and their leavings litter the course. This is a shame, since the track is challenging and the greens and approaches are in great shape. In several areas, tree limbs scrape the cart tops as you traverse the cart paths. The tee markers look like the position hasn’t been changed days, yet the rest of the tee box looks almost pristine. Lots of rocks in the bunkers, where patrons believe raking is optional. The16th green is virtually invisible from all but the blue/black tees. Green tees are not hittable. Cart attendant out front watched us unload bags from car and load on a cart as he worked his phone over from his perch. A nice course now home to Phragmites and geese.
Terrible Management
We booked an 1148 tee time and when we got there we were told it was moved to 1157. To top it off the tee times were about 20 minutes behind.
Then it took over 5 hours to play. No rangers on the course and it took forever.
Great place.
Off the beaten path. Great place with fantastic fairways. Lots of water. Good test for my level (beginner)
Good day for golf
Finally a nice weather day to play golf. Course was in good shape except for the bunkers they have not been worked on at all. Greens were running a little slow. No ranger or starter on the course . To much slow play especially when you get to 10. To many people run in the club house to get stuff. Once you go in the club house, you lose your spot on the tee box.
