An ordinary course that is very good value
This is an ordinary golf course made especially difficult by having greens that are very difficult to hold on approach shots and two putts is a success. I would recommend that the greens are watererd more to lesson the lottery.
Great Fall golf gam
I played Black river on October 20th. I had always wanted to play it as it is an older course dating back to the twenties. The course is a good layout. the rough is not to long and fairways were lined with many mature trees. Overall a good design and play was very fast
A Classic
Black River Country Club is an school course with great amenities. Full pro shop, restaurant, and range. Full practice putting green near the patio next #1 tee. Short game chipping, sand, pitching green available.
Course was in great condition when I played. A real classic mature tree line fairways. Keeping a good tee shot is must here. With the length of this course and tee ball placement I got to use all the clubs in my bag.
Cart was offered but I walked instead. Course was not too busy when I played. Be sure to check out the wall of club champions near the locker room, as it adds to the mystique of this course.
Putting surfaces were very smooth and were not beat up around the pin and all barks were pretty much repaired. There are some greens which will require a good read to score here.
The slopes of course are mostly flat here with some elevated green. Hole 3 is a very difficult hole. Rough here was average and consistent throughout.
For a great golf experience with a classy feel to it, I highly recommend.
Nice place to play.
I enjoyed playing here. The course was challenging and the greens were fast and also challenging. Well maintained and a good variety of fairways.
I love the trees!
I enjoy the challenge, especially #4, must say #18 is not my favorite. I have told all my friends about Black River, and plan to golf there next year.
