The Timbers Golf Course
About
Timbers Golf Club is situated just 10 minutes from Frankenbluth in Vassar, a town that is known for its great shopping. Though you might look at the 133-slope rating and pass it off as a "resort course," it would be a mistake to underestimate this golf course. It starts with a challenging front nine that features tight fairways and tricky doglegs. There are also several marshes scattered through and water comes into play on seven holes. At 3,141 yards, Timbers' front nine will put your short and mid-iron skills to the test while the back nine is a little longer at 3,454 yards. There are considerably more sand bunkers on the back. Be sure to build up your score on the par 3s and par 4s because the tough par 5s are sure to swallow a few shots.

Challenging, but fun course.
A friend and I played the Timbers as part of a 36 hole day. It was great! The course is interesting and challenging. There is a reason they call it the Timbers, but if you stay mostly straight you can avoid it. A great value for the condition and course.
Good, but not great.
This course was worth the 30 minute drive for me. Tee boxes and fairways are in fantastic condition and cut to a good length. My only gripe with this course is some of the greens are pretty scuffed up and it doesnt appear that they roll them. Thankfully, only 2 or 3 greens were bad, the rest were from above average too good.
Nice course but not up to normal ~
We played here on 8-12-2013 and we got a great deal for the money that day from GolfNow. I like this course but it looked like they had some kind of outing either this same morning or the day before & the greens were very bad. It looked like someone had even tried to ruin areas around some holes on purpose. There were a lot of ball marks, etc. The greens are usually nicer than that. We like this course but it wasn't up to normal on that day, especially the front nine greens. Normally it is a nice course to play.
Great Course and Location
Lush fairways and superb greens. Nice course mostly built right in the woods. Fine layout that will require various type of shots due to the many different bends. It was a real pleasure to play with a few regular folks from the state.
The other nice thing about the course is the proximity to a wonderful chicken dinner
We left for Timbers from Canada early to make sure that we would not be late for our 11:45 tee off, as it turns out we were very early about an hour to be exact, we asked if it was possible to get on the tee early and there was no problem even though looking at their time sheet which was booked solid. We played in 4 1/4 hours and made our mistakes but enjoyed our day, we expected to pay more than the $25.00 we were charged great value for a great day

Pretty course that winds through trees
A variety of golf holes with strategically placed bunkers. Some holes require shorter accurate tee shots. Planning to replay this course soon.
Great layout
You get that up north feel so close to home. Course was a bit beat up from the wet conditions.
This was an excellent course
The course was well maintained and the staff was very friendly. Glad we took a chance and played a course we had no idea about.
Very Nice
This course is well maintained and a good challenge, I enjoyed playing here very much. Highly recommend!
Great under rated course for the money.
Not too hard if you hit it straight. Very hard if you don't.
You will need every club in your bag.
I enjoy playing The Timbers because of the challenges the course presents. The tight tree-lined fairways and length of the course always keep you sharp on every shot.
One of my favorite courses
Very accomodating staff and the course is in great condition with an outstanding layout for this area.
Stay away from the water!
Real nice course that would be pretty difficult from the blues. 6300 yards or so from the whites. Got a great price through golfnow.com!
Slow Play
The course was nice. Lots of trees. But the pace of play was unbearable. I never saw a marshall on the course to speed things along. This was one of the slowest rounds I have had in a long time.
Lush, scenic and staying in the fairways a must
Fun challenge. Forget it if you miss the fairways by more than 15 yards on most holes. You will be in marshland or woods. Fairways are in super condition and wide enough for the average golfer although narrow on a few holes especially the last three. Large greens, moderate speed, pay good attention to pin location listed for the day. Great layout in a country feel atmosphere. Top notch course.
Beautiful and well maintained course.
This course was in beautiful condition and very well maintained. We will return again.
blue tees
i played with a friend who didn't play yet this year and he wanted to play from the whites. it makes the course really short. i hit it about 260 of the tee and from the whites it took the driver out of my hand on about 6 holes. nice course, GREAT staff, suggest playing from the blues.
Name says it all "timbers"
Keep it in the fairway!! You can make some big numbers but if you play smart you can go low. I love courses in the woods and ones that make you think. Not a driver on the tee on all par 4 and 5's starting on hole one. Good luck play smart have fun.
Mostly wide fairways but trees if you stray.
One of my favorites, has water, trees, and sand that all come into play. Bring extra ball's.
Fun course to play
Had fun playing with some tricky holes over all the course was good
