The Timbers Golf Course
About
Timbers Golf Club is situated just 10 minutes from Frankenbluth in Vassar, a town that is known for its great shopping. Though you might look at the 133-slope rating and pass it off as a "resort course," it would be a mistake to underestimate this golf course. It starts with a challenging front nine that features tight fairways and tricky doglegs. There are also several marshes scattered through and water comes into play on seven holes. At 3,141 yards, Timbers' front nine will put your short and mid-iron skills to the test while the back nine is a little longer at 3,454 yards. There are considerably more sand bunkers on the back. Be sure to build up your score on the par 3s and par 4s because the tough par 5s are sure to swallow a few shots.

Shot placement rewarded/great greens
This is a great course and greater value. You are definitely rewarded for shot placement and thinking shots through. The greens were perfect and rolled true. It had rained hours before and the course drained well. This course has that up north Michigan feel.
Great Cinditions, Great Price, Great Time
I've played this course many times, and will continue to play it for many years, every time I'm in the area I like to play this course. The staff is very friendy. The conditions are great and the course presents enough challenges for players of all skill levels.
Great Greens
Most of the course had tree lined fairways. This may have been the last weekend with bright colors, which was nice. This is not a course that will ever make a best in Michigan list, but is maintained very well and the greens rolled incredibly true. Note, fairways did not have a single fallen leaf on them.
fun course! some risk/reward opportunities. This time of year the colors were really nice.
The falling leaves were not a problem, the course is very well maintained. Some holes were tight but fair and other holes you could spray the ball and get away with it. The greens were really nice for receiving shots and for putting. I would play there again for sure!
Many challenging holes
Every hole was different. The back 9 had 3 par 5s. Water on some holes, marshes on others. Very scenic. Their restaurant even has daily specials. Not just hot dogs.
This course is a lot of fun to play.
The course is well maintained and the staff is very friendly.
Awesome course for a great value
The weather turned out to be real nice. Been here already for a couple of times. I definitely recommend this course for its price. Some of the holes are actually tough to reach and be precise off the drive.
excellent all round
our foursome was unsure if we should play or not as it was raining, then showers then drizzle etc.., but we did.
Very nice course with some nice challenging holes & a great layout.
Considering the hours of rain prior to our start the course was in great condition, i really enjoyed this course & the staff were very helpful.
Two pieces of advise, 1) follow the marked lines across the parking lot to get to number 13 as we went all the way to number 18 by mistake. 2) call the pro shop for rates as we only saved $1 using golfnow.com after fees.
If i lived closer to this course it would definitely be on my play again list.
secluded up north feel
Challenging, well kept, in a secluded setting. Worth the drive to a somewhat isolated location:
Great Value and conditions
It was a fall day and was cold at night. The course had a frost delay early in the morning resulting in an hour and a half delay. The rest of the day was excellent. With the frost there were cancellations resulting in the course being wide open when I played with no one holding me up. Greens and fairways were in excellent condition. I have always enjoyed the layout of the course with tree lined fairways and many varied challenging holes. Would recommend this course for anyone in the Frankenmuth, Mi area. Great value for the money with friendly staff
course was pristine & value was great
Great time on a very well maintained course. Value was excellent
The course had very nice fairways!
My stepson and I had a really good time course was great for the money ......very pleased and are planning to go back soon.
The Timbers golf course
I have played the timbers several times and the course is always in great shape and the staff is always very friendly...
Very nice layout with lots of character.
Course was very nice. Play was slow but mostly due to people playing the back tees when they should be on the front. Still an enjoyable day.
Great course
This is a absolutely wonderful course especially for the cost. greens are medium to fast, fairways are nice and wide outlined by trees.
worth your time and money
Course plays all you clubs with a great variety holes made challenging with water, swamp land, heather, and sand. Helps to know your distances to hazards. water, traps, etc.
If you play the back tees you have to be a single handicapper, The whites are a challenge for the average good golfer and the golds are better suited for the average duffer like me.
Women tees are great for the serious woman golfer or a better than average striker. Clearing hazards or wet lands is a problem for the short knocker or beginner.
But no matter how well you play the Golf Now price was certainly worth the money.
Challenging, but fun course.
A friend and I played the Timbers as part of a 36 hole day. It was great! The course is interesting and challenging. There is a reason they call it the Timbers, but if you stay mostly straight you can avoid it. A great value for the condition and course.
Good, but not great.
This course was worth the 30 minute drive for me. Tee boxes and fairways are in fantastic condition and cut to a good length. My only gripe with this course is some of the greens are pretty scuffed up and it doesnt appear that they roll them. Thankfully, only 2 or 3 greens were bad, the rest were from above average too good.
Nice course but not up to normal ~
We played here on 8-12-2013 and we got a great deal for the money that day from GolfNow. I like this course but it looked like they had some kind of outing either this same morning or the day before & the greens were very bad. It looked like someone had even tried to ruin areas around some holes on purpose. There were a lot of ball marks, etc. The greens are usually nicer than that. We like this course but it wasn't up to normal on that day, especially the front nine greens. Normally it is a nice course to play.
Great Course and Location
Lush fairways and superb greens. Nice course mostly built right in the woods. Fine layout that will require various type of shots due to the many different bends. It was a real pleasure to play with a few regular folks from the state.
