Washtenaw Golf Club
About
Located in between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, Washtenaw Golf Club, founded in 1899, is one of the most historic clubs in the state of Michigan. The club was private for most of its history, but an ownership change in 2019 turned this venerable layout into one of the area’s best public experiences. The 18-hole course plays 6,512 yards from the championship tees, though there are four sets of tees The club is in the midst of a multi-year restoration and enhancement project, guided by architect Ray Hearn, that includes green enlargements, tree management, and in the installation of some new championship tees. Facilities here include a putting green, small driving range, chipping green, and a large clubhouse, grill and bar, patio and event space.

Great course-- overall good experience. Condition not as good as previous years but still one of my favorites and well worth playing.
Old Setting, New Feel
Very old course, one of the oldest in Michigan but the modern updates have made this place a gem. Currently making some course updates but otherwise widely well kept and in good shape. The par 5s on the back are darn near iconic.
Doc will get you taken care of, make sure you're ready for you're tee time and have everything you need. Then, will send you off with a nice club shine to end the day. True care and old course charm.
Good but under repair
Because of some drainage issues, Holes 1 and 9 could only be played from the forward tees, and the creek was dry. Greens are fast. Will be nice once the repairs are finished.
Fantastic option in the same realm as Eagle Crest
Loved this course even under construction as it was easy to navigate and hard to lose a ball in most spots. Challenging in spots but friendly for most.
Drainage work is ongoing
Pace of play was slow, 4.5 hours. Course is in average condition. No club/ball cleaner on carts. GPS on cart was a plus. 3 or 4 holes were problematic due to drainage work going on and driving range was closed for the same reason. Expected to take a few weeks, but I would not be surprised if it took longer. A good value for the price and I would play again once the draainage work is completed.
Greens are tough
For 90 bucks a round? Nah challenging course but holes 1 & 9 are being work on so you’re playing from closest tees. Greens are in rough shape but don’t agree with pricing
Great place if you’re looking for a challenge.
This is a great test for better players, fast greens with lots of slopes. Putting the ball in the right place is a must.
A cool and windy day
we have played this course numerous times and enjoy it very much. this round was on 19apr, so opening up after winter and early spring, it is not in summer conditions yet. many of Teeboxes needs a lot of TLC, and that is a result because of the early spring conditions. the greens were as fast as always, if you are above the hole on many greens, then you have a struggle to keep it close for a possible 2nd putt. all in all, a great OLD course, fantastic conditions normally in the summer.
Great Course, tough greens
Well maintained course, apart from a few spots between fairways that are patchy dirt. Bunkers are better than many courses, but are a little inconsistent. Greens are the hardest in the area (especially when they opt into challenging pin locations). Feels like the clubhouse should be a lot nicer. Nothing they could do, but range was closed due to a sinkhole...they set up simulators instead, but they weren't set up for lefties.
Gotta love December Golf in Michigan
Always nice to have a course open in December for those random days it's warm enough to play. Even though it showed walking only when I booked, and it had been raining for two days, the course still offered me a cart when I arrived. I still chose to walk since I have an electric push cart, and finished in less than 2.5 hours. Only saw 3 other golfers on the course, but really enjoyed my round. Not ready to hibernate for winter just yet.
