Awesome greens!
Great layout with awesome greens. Quick but not crazy. Nice sized and they hold the ball really well. Everything was well groomed and maintained. Going back again on friday!
Will play again
A good distance from Elk River but well worth it with a Golf Now coupon. We had breakfast in the clubhouse before our tee time and it was better than expected good, couple beers n bloodies coming off the front nine. Greens were challenging, some wet/spongy spots in the fairways but not too bad. Pretty course, wonderfully quiet, not many houses to see. Lots of fun to play and a relaxing way to spend a Sunday.
Fabulous afternoon!
Played on a Thursday morning/afternoon and pretty much had the course to myself. Think I saw maybe 4 other carts. I finished in just over 3 hours and that was with hitting some extra shots and taking my time. Have been plenty of times on weekends and pace of play has never been an issue. The staff could not be any more friendly! Course was in very good Spring condition. Looks like they are doing some grounds improvements to No. 5 which Im guessing will make it a little less spongy. Had a great afternoon!
Good value, nice greens, nice clubhouse
Southbrook has a number of holes with lateral hazards, mostly wetlands/lowlands. As a result, you may need to hit hybrids or irons off of some tees to avoid penalty strokes. Once you accept this, it can be a fun course with receptive greens. The clubhouse is nice and a good place to enjoy beverages and a meal after your round. Although I had a cart, this course is flat and easy to walk compared to many courses. There is a practice green with limited area to chip, but no driving range on site. There is a separate driving range across the street where you can buy tokens to warm up. There is a driving range across the street.Go play!
Great value
This course is very similar feel to The Ponds in St. Francis minus houses on the fairways! Great value, hardly anybody ever out here. Pretty slick greens too I might add. Fun track to play with buddies and at 6,500 from the tips decently challenging. I will be returning to play many times as long as people want to make the treck with me.
A pretty straightforward design.
Was a long drive to the course from where I live, probably won't return because I wasn't overly impressed by it, very good price and friendly staff, made it an enjoyable day.
I Played after their Club Championship
My first and only round (so far) at Southbrook started out as a sunny day and ended as a monsoon on the 18th green. Regardless of the rain, I still very much enjoyed the round at Southbrook. The course was set up for the club championship which I had learned was earlier that day. Being very difficult that day the greens played much more challenging that normal I would imagine. Greens played very fast and they were set up with very little room to land, and slopes funneled average shots off the green to protect the pins. Although I didn't play particularly well this round, and a few shots that didn't stick the green were quite frustrating, overall this is a solid course with above average tee boxes, fairways, and greens.
Greens fast, and patchy in spots
Greens were extremely fast, fastest I've played in area, especially compared to Albion. So, be careful with the tempo. Some greens particularly hole 1 have some damage, didn't look weather related. Hole 3 is still recovering from flooding, but that is only a factor if you hit short(Par 3). Overall nice course, and pretty quiet
Course Is In Good Shape!
Although a little soggy in places due to the rain it has received lately, the course was in reasonable shape and very playable. The greens were the fastest I've ever experienced at Southbrook, but putted very true.
Great Value Course
Value for walking 18 holes was great and speed of play was excellent. Greens and tee boxes were in good shape, but a couple fairways were patchy. Staff was very friendly and accommodating with directions. Would play this course again.
fun course, wide open
a little wet still, made course play long, but golf course in good condition.
Great Place to Start the Season
Excellent value and great place to get the rust off your swing. Played in mid April. Not crowded (50 minute drive from west metro). Low green fees. Walker friendly course. Greens were decent.
Great Value and solid course
It was a great course for the money. It was well maintained the fairways and greens were in great shape. Bar and restaurant looked nice and the people were very nice.
Large T-boxes and greens. The greens were soft and the fairways were in great shape.
We golfed this course under 4 hours and had a wonderful time. The large t boxes were in great shape. Greens were large and apparently had been aerated in the last several weeks. No problems putting. It appears this course is well maintained.
On a Thursday afternoon, there were few golfers which might be unfortunate for the course, but great for a golfer. I would recommend this course.
Good, not great
Nice course, well maintained, nice greens. green grass, not much brown dead grass. Nice unique hole layouts. Very playable for any skill level. One of those that you need to play it a few times to know where to go off the tee. Not a along hitters course overall. Id be back again for sure.
great
Our group was 2 couples. There are a lot of narrow fairways but they all open up in the landing areas. The greens were fairly fast, and the fairways and roughs were well maintained.
Great value.
Some of the fairways could use some attention (improvement). However, overall a good course to play.
Not fun
Played this after Albion ridges. Not even in the same league. Course is very tight in most spots. The majority of the par 4's do not allow a driver to be hit if you hit it very far. Not fun. Conditioning ok. Fairways seem to be rough cut short. Carts sound like freight trains. Won't be back.
