Nice place for beginners
We were not rushed and we're able to play without being worried about people behind use. Very nice and helpful staff as well.
Worst Golf Course Experience We’ve Ha
This was one of the worst golf course experiences we’ve had. My husband, another adult, and three kids visited this course for the first time because it was an inexpensive 9-hole course that seemed like a reasonable place to teach beginners how to play.
At check-in, they specifically told the golf shop attendant that the kids were learning. The attendant was friendly, and there were very few people on the course when they started. They also made every effort to be respectful and not hold anyone up. Anytime another group came up behind them, they immediately allowed them to play through.
Despite that, only about two hours into the round, management approached them and demanded they stop playing because of pace of play. For a group teaching children the game on a nearly empty 9-hole course, this was completely unreasonable and handled very poorly. Instead of working with them or showing any professionalism, management chose to escalate the situation and ultimately kicked them off the course.
The irony is that management seemed far more concerned about rushing customers off the course than addressing the actual condition of it. The course itself was in very poor shape and clearly needs serious maintenance and attention. Fairways and greens were poorly maintained, and overall the property looked neglected.
This course is not beginner-friendly, family-friendly, or professionally managed. We will absolutely not return and would not recommend this course to anyone.
TRUE DIAMOND IN THE RUFF
What a lovely little course. Nestled between Hwy10 and the Mississippi River in Elk River, Pinewood Golf Course is a hidden treasure among the bigger courses in the Northwestern suburbs. Jennifer, the owner of Pinewood, is genuinely engaged in making your experience fun and laid back. I walked this 9 hole Executive Course at twilight and finished in just under two hours. Whether you’re looking to get in a quick 9 after work or take the kids to a family friendly, affordable course, you’re hard pressed to find a better spot than Pinewood to get on the links. Can’t wait to play it again!
Nice little course trying to come back
Thus is a nice little course in the northern suburbs. 9 hole executive that has a straightforward setup. Course can be challenging if you don’t pay attention to your shot.
Unfortunately, the course is trying to come back from idiots who vandalized all the greens in the spring. Owners and management are working hard hard to restore the greens. Currently, all greens do have grass, but over seeded and long to facilitate regrowing. Current greens fees are reasonable given the greens conditions and pace of play is great. Definitely would play again!!
No one at club house - prepaid
Holes greens were aerated and unplayable due to holes and plugs in a ring around the greens
Should not have had tee times
Fun Little Course
Had a nice round. Course is a little tricky to follow.
Grass in the rough was long. Loved the "potato chip" greens!
Pinewood, meh
To start, the website is awful and no way to book tee times online. So I called, and nobody answered. Found out you can book through a 3rd party app online, so I did that. Clubhouse was tiny and had barely any selection of drinks/snacks. The greens were absolutely awful on every hole, despite fairways being okay. Lawn care was mowing alongside us for 6 of the 9 holes. Had two separate cars drive by honking and telling obscenities as we were teeing off. Basically the entire experience was crappy, and I’ll never golf there again, regardless of the price.
Course is great for beginners and it’s cheap so it’s great for people who want to play and are trying to save there is only a water hazard on hole 1 and 3 and I would like it if there was some sand traps and more water hazards throughout the course. Course does go near houses and a road so you do have to be careful but other than that it’s a great course

Greens were in terrible condition.
The rest of the course was great.
Nice casual course.
If your looking for a cheap casual course this will get the job done. Greens could use some help.
Summer_of_Heat
The greens suffered this summer due to heat and lack of water supply, so they were a challenge.
Overall, the course was fine for the price. A good day for excerise doing a fun thing inexpensively.
Greens
Greens are absolutely terrible with many spots of no grass. But for my type of game and just out to have fun, it was ok.
Unfortunate
I have played this course several times. And have never seen it in this condition. The fairways, greens and tee boxes are in terrible shape. This is not a winter kill scenario. This is a lack of effort to maintain the course. I’ve played poor conditions but this is a total lack of concern for the conditions. Unfortunate…
