Great value
Course in good shape... Less than 4 hours to play, what a bonus !!!!
Great layout
Course is in good shape, fairways were nice, bunkers were not raked but if you scratch the sand you're alright. The placement of the pins on this course is just unfair. Sprinkler heads can be found on some greens but they are in good condition.
Pace of play was under 3 hours for 18 (if youre early enough) Always seem to be singles waiting for a group on the 1st tee.
Don't hook your tee shot in 15 or you'll end up in the Giraffe Paddock at the Zoo!
Unhappy customer
Left a nice pair of sunglasses in the cart after my round and called back with my cart number and description of them and they are no where to be found...I will never go back...golf is a gentlemens game and theifs don't belong playing...
average at best
Not bad by any means but the play time was super slow. Waited 5 min to tee off at every hole. Overall course was pretty good. FLAG placement was way too hard for the first time out near impossible to shoot par.
Classic
A historic and challenging course. Very much undisturbed Donald Ross design. Small greens. Should be easy. Not.
Pace of play not good during peak but in off hours it's great
Decent practice facility
bad greens
high priced for this time of year and condition of greens
Great course, highly recommended
Rambler has some of the thickest rough I have ever seen, very challenging. Well maintained
It's nothing special, but it's a golf course.
I played the first time at Rackham in an attempt to meet a friend halfway between our houses. The course is a little on the boring side. The rough was long and not very well maintained. You really had to search for your ball. There is no water on the course. I would not pay more than $15 or so to play here and would choose another course over it if I had another option.
Great golf course, well maintained and very challenging
Our foursome had a great time and will go back again, great course and great deal
Great location, terrible conditions
Greens were nice but slow (cut long). Tee box were shoddy and lacked grass. I can't see how they justify charging as much as they do. We paid $25 and frankly this place was only worth $10-15 tops.
Send Your Kids to the Zoo, Then Play Golf
Surprise, surprise..In the middle of the Detroit Zoo is a little gem of a golf course. Very well cared for with great greens you can count on to hold your approach shot.
The front six are a little distracted by the freeway they run paarellel to, but it is a minor disturbance compared to the playing a well laid out course with some nice 500 yard Par fives. I'll be back....
Nice jewel in the metro area.
This was the first time playing in about 10 years and will be back as soon as possible. An enjoyable and fun course to play. Course is in good shape and some of the features, long grass areas, add really nice character to the course. Staff was friendly and cordial and willing to give you help if needed. Would recommend to anyone, to go and play Rackham.
Great Course For The Money
Beautiful Course, Lots Of Big Mature Trees. Very well maintained greens. Only downfall was the back nine was a little long for women with two 180 yard par 3's and a super long par 5.
Nice course, phenomenal deal
Myself and a buddy of mine played this course with a cart for only $28 for the both of us (I also found a coupon online). Incredible deal at a pretty nice, dry course... avoid all that sand!
the course bunkers were not raked due to player laziness
the first three holes were kind of easy because of freeway construction. the next 15 were very challenging. I played the back tees, and the old Donald ross was a real challenge to this 67 yr. old! I did manage to just break 80. I really enjoyed the old course.
A true gem
Great staff. Wonderful layout and well maintained greens. A real pleasure to play. A true gem as well as moderately priced.
Very good course
Rackham is a great course, offers a mix of holes and challenges, as there are no natural hazards to speak of, the course architect uses over 90 bunkers to guard the course as well as undulating greens unique to a course not "up north". If you haven't played here, be forewarned tee times are set every 8 minutes and a typical round is always over 4 hours. In addition, I have never seen a course where so many golfers who really shouldn't play the back tees play them which also slows play. If you know all this up front will be a slow, but enjoyable round.
