North/West at Sycamore Hills Golf Club

Today was my first time playing this course, and despite the rain, I had an absolutely wonderful time! I played solo, which gave me the opportunity to really take in the course, enjoy the scenery, and appreciate the experience at my own pace.

First, I have to give a huge shoutout to the staff, especially Bill, the starter! He was incredibly friendly, sweet, welcoming, and encouraging. That kind of genuine hospitality makes a lasting impression and is a big part of what makes a golf experience memorable. Bill definitely helped make my first visit a great one!

As for the course itself, I was pleasantly impressed with the conditions. Considering we’re already approaching mid-October in Michigan, the greens were in great shape! The overall course conditions exceeded my expectations, especially given the time of year and the rainy weather.

One thing I really enjoyed was the variety. With 27 holes spread across three different nines, each layout had its own personality, challenges, and unique character. It was refreshing to experience three different styles of play rather than feeling like I was playing the same course over and over. There’s something enjoyable about a course that keeps you thinking and gives you a different experience with each nine.

Honestly, after reading some of the negative reviews, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. I’m not sure what others experienced during their visits, and everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. Perhaps some visits were busier or came with different circumstances. However, my experience was a very positive one, and I walked away wondering whether this course deserves a chance from golfers who might otherwise pass it up because of online reviews.

My advice? Don’t let reviews make the decision for you. Get out there and experience it for yourself! Sometimes a course’s reputation doesn’t tell the whole story, and one person’s disappointing round may be another golfer’s hidden gem. Every course has its own character, and every visit can be different. Going in with an open mind, a little patience, and an appreciation for the game can make all the difference.

Even with the rain, I genuinely enjoyed my round and was glad I gave this place a try. Between the friendly staff, the well-maintained greens for this time of year, and the variety of the three layouts, this was a very enjoyable first visit.

I’ll gladly encourage other golfers to give this course a chance and form their own opinions. Don’t just read about the experience—go make your own!

I do understand that on a nice day in mid October everybody wants to get out and play but to allow a 3 hour + nine holes Is unacceptable. I left after 11 holes. Greens were good but a lot of scruffy lies throughout the course. Glad I got a discounted green fee on golf Now.

Stopped by for a late twilight round. The staff were all amazing and helpful. The course was beautiful and we had a great time. I'll definitely be back.

Coarse in good shape busy but play moved well like the idea of 27 holes different 9 to play believe keeps play moving. Had some rain and storms come in so only able to get 16 in but scenic holes very enjoyable!!

We had a 6:40am tee time. Front 9 took us 1 hour and 15 minutes. Went to start the back 9, literally 3 groups sitting on the tee boxes. Took us 3.5 hours to finish the back 9. We tried calling the pro shop, they said to basically deal with it. Ranger came out an hour after we called and they proceeded to yell at our group while we were on the tee box, a group in the fairway and another group was on the green.

I live 8 minutes down the road for this course and I’d rather deal with the horrible conditions at bello woods down the street than go back to sycamore.

Tee box’s are in terrible shape, course allows 6 somes to play together causing a round of 9 for two to take 3.5 hours. Will never be back

some rought areas on greens and fairways due to hot dry spell. we were not told at booking that we were following an outing, so our round took over 5 hous as we waited on every shot.

The pace of play was horrible. Took 3.5 hours to play only 9. We left after since on the west course first tee, there were five groups waiting to tee off. The rangers are incompetent and did nothing to improve the pace of play. They need to hire rangers that enforce pace of play. I would never play here agin

The pace of play was absolutely crappy. 3.5 hours to play nine. The starters/rangers are incompetent and can’t do their job to speed up the pace of play.

This course is super fun, with it being kept up beautifully, fun bunker and water challenges, and AMAZING staff. We did however, and it's not anyone's fault get stuck behind a 4-some of Karens that told the ranger we were playing slow, but again, not our fault with a 4-some in front of us. They were super rude and were talking horrible of my wife's 3rd time EVER golfing, it made her cry. Staff then let go over to the South course to finish our 9.

Course is shorter overall but the shorter holes are mostly designed to take driver out of your hand and force layups which makes the course play longer than its yardage. greens were fast enough but unfortunately quite bumpy. i had heard they may have had an outing there that day earlier and perhaps all the foot traffic caused it. Overall not a bad track but i think more course knowledge at a course like this would help immensely to score better.

I usually play this course once or twice a year never seen it in such good shape!!
