Awesome Value
Greens were excellent, fairways were ok. There was mix up on our tee time and despite all times we’re booked, they graciously accommodated us
Loved the greens but disappointed the players do not repair ball marks. It’s a shame and I suggest you create a theme to reward ball mark repIr and make examples of those that do not
We live in HHI and we’re just visiting. We would come back for sure
Open fairways
First time playing this year. They cut a lot of trees down and now it’s much more open. A lot of sand bunkers are under repair but overall very nice condition.
Souhegan woods golf
Big improvements since new ownership this year - appears more good things coming. Really nice course.
Like it!
Enjoy playing the course, great value for the money.
Easy online sign up for tee time. Staff friendly and helpful.
Souhegan is a nice track
Nice course with a few obstacle's that require hood shot selection. Also several narrow fairways that don’t reward anyone who slices. Friendly staff and generally friendly players.
Recommended
Good 18-hole NH course in the woods and a few 😁 traps. Friendly staff. Good 19.
course is fun but slow
pace of play in a pain besides that its the best for your money and staff is outstanding.
Great Course
This is one of my favorite courses to play, staff is always friendly, course is always kept in great shape, cost is reasonable, pace of play has always been good, I would highly recommend this course to anyone
Good day
With the scorching month of heat the course was in top notch condition. Fairways and greens were in fantastic shape.
Pace of play
Course was in very good shape, looks like there putting some sand in some of the many bunkers. Pace of play was 4 1/2 hrs. You can see that they are trying to improve conditions .
Hidden Gem
I play a lot of golf, pretty much every day. I'm up here visiting Amherst and I gave Souhegan a try. Was very pleased. You receive a great welcome when you check in, the practice facilities are good, the starters are fabulous, the course is challenging ... leaving you certain "you could do better". The golfers on the course are super friendly. Truly, a hidden gem. I will return!
Greens too fast!
I've played here a lot over many years. This year they have a new head greenskeeper, and he decided to make the greens super fast, like 10 on the stimpmeter. Now that's fine if the greens roll true, but these are Muni greens with all kinds of ruts and holes and bumps and your typical beat up conditions that you expect at a Muni. If you make these greens play like Augusta it's putting lipstick on a pig. The greens were much better before. Fast for the sake of fast is foolish, the conditions cannot handle the speed. Terribly frustrating to putt on on greens that require you to tap ever so gently, then watch your ball go in random directions as it bounces it's way through craters, holes and bald spots.if your ball goes in it's sheer luck, more often than not it's knocked off line by imperfections. Put the greens back to the speed they've always been, this new approach is not working!
Staff needs work
I really enjoy the course and layout. it's challenging but fair with a mix of short and long holes. The course is usually in good condition and rarely is pace of play slow. Easy to walk as well.
The management needs some work. Tee times are just suggested start times. They are often 30 minutes ahead of schedule and make you rush from the parking lot to tee. Show up 45 minutes before your tee time and they make you feel like you're late. No time for warming up or spending money on range balls. On busy days this usually means compressed groups.
Kitchen staff is great but menu needs an update.
Still worth playing if you can look past the other stuff.
Souhegan performs!
Ah Souhegan! They should call it Sandhegan with its 86 bunkers. Don't get me wrong she's a great layout and fun to play.
Most of the holes are pine tree lined which reminds you of North Carolina golf. You do have to keep a eye out for white stakes on several hole due to houses.
This is a much better course than the Overlook- better routing and better greens. Plus their practice area is superior. Get there early to hit balls. Their pro shop is above average and has nice prices.
The only thing holding me back on better ratings is the amount of maintaining the course needs with turf conditions- due to the pine trees.
Also-we played on a Friday and the pin positions where extremely challenging for most average golfers. Hint- ok to do that but not Friday-Sunday this slows down play.
Souhegan is and will always be on our rotation of courses to play!
Prepare for A Very Slow Round
Course is mostly flat with fairway bunkers guarding the average player's tee shots. In my years of playing there (due only to it's proximity and deals) I have never seen a marshal on the course. Course attracts a fair amount of hackers and pace of play suffers from that and lack of management.
Course personnel can be just plain rude at times.
