Beautiful spring day
Course is in excellent condition for early March. Nice friendly staff
Winter golf!
Had a good today, the starter was very nice and the pace was decent as well. Great to get back out in NH in only March. Reducing the early season rate was nice as well.
Very fun course
Very fun, challenging course. The layout is narrow, forcing you to pick the right club and make the right shot. In the fall the trees were beautiful. The greens in particular were in fantastic condition, rolling quick and true. Some tee boxes were under repair, which is good because they were the weakest part of the course. Staff was incredibly friendly, but the pace of play was quite slow. Nearly 5 hours for 2 people in a cart.
Great value
One of the better layouts in New England. Conditions are usually fine and the greens roll true, but not overly fast. For some reason this course gets little play, which is great because you can expect a 3 1/2-4 hour round most times. Price is right and it’s a test of golf. Highly recommended.
Windham Country Club offers challenges
Five rounds in 4 days has come to an end. Learned along the way. Green placement, difficulty to hold, relatively small size, and strategically placed natural and man-made hazards gives you the challenge that makes that shorter hole a boost. I guess the only negative to speak of is if you miss the fairway, the rough is just deep enough that it swallows the ball making it difficult to find. lengthens the time need to play the round. While hitting the fairway shouldn't be a concern , the contour of the fairway line cut may give you the impression that that blind tee shot would land clear , only to find the fairway bend left you off line.
Only tips i would give is to keep your driver in the bag, use a soft ball to spin on the green and, don't forget to stop at Mulligan's after your round, the staff is very friendly.
course condition not great
Greens in great shape but the fairway is the worst. Crabgrass, bare spots, just not great, not even good. I haven't played here in a couple of years but the conditions have fallen off. You were better off hitting out of the rough.
Windham CC Quality and Value
I am a mid-handicap bogey golfer I played the course this morning as I have for the last 20 years on Sunday mornings and am always impressed with the greens, conditions of the fairways, attention to course detail and overall challenge and great entertainment value that WCC offers. This course is very challenging, many holes that are par-able and a handful that you can birdie. It makes for a terrific round for average and above average handicap golfers who prefer target golf and variety of approaches and provides thoughtful greens. There are no blind shots, only a few doglegs, and enticing par 3’s. The staff are professional and the best in the business. Jay and Bob, and Joann embody the company culture and give me reason to return weekly. You will absolutely love this course and atmosphere when you play there.
Decent course but won’t play again
Not sure if we played on a bad day, but the conditions were not very good. The greens were covered in divots and most of the fairways were not in good shape. A few very easy holes and a few very difficult holes. Played the back tees but there’s a lot of holes you have to hit an iron off the tee. Tee boxes were uneven and in bad shape as well.
Mixed bag
The staff are wonderful, gracious, polite, and welcoming. Very generous fairways which off set issues of blind shots. Fair warning that the practice green is fast, but the course greens are slow. Loved the grilling shack and the quality of the food..
The downside. Started at 11:06 and finished at 4:02. According to the starter there was a group of 40 who went off for a tournament and we were the second group off behind them. At one time there were 4 groups on one tee. Are you kidding......someone needs to allow more time for the big group to get around, ranger the big group, or cancel afternoon tee times.
Read the reviews—slow play shows up in almost all comments. This is fixable and more profitable, if fixed, then getting one nd drones like me. A Wes starter/ranger once told me that the first group off sets the pace for the day. Most courses do not Ranger the early morning groups which then creates the backup.
Loved everything about the course except pace.
A Little Disappointing
I hadn't played Windham in roughly a decade, and I remembered liking it. But I'm not sure why. The only exceptional green was the putting green. The course greens varied from decent to terrible. Sometimes it was just a bad section, but a couple greens were lousy all over. Also, too many blind shots. I prefer there be no blind shots. Windham has a couple blind shots and a handful of semi-blind shots. I hit a great drive down the left side on 7, or so I thought. It came to rest in the right rough at the edge of a bunker. Nearly unplayable!
I wish I could recommend Windham, as I'm a fan of Bill Flynn and Far Corner. But not this summer. Not at full price.
Very interesting course
Course layout is great, challenging yet very playable. Narrow fairways, your shots need to be accurate. Pace of play was slow, course was packed & inexperienced players affected time. Overall, nice course.
