The staff are wonderful, gracious, polite, and welcoming. Very generous fairways which off set issues of blind shots. Fair warning that the practice green is fast, but the course greens are slow. Loved the grilling shack and the quality of the food..
The downside. Started at 11:06 and finished at 4:02. According to the starter there was a group of 40 who went off for a tournament and we were the second group off behind them. At one time there were 4 groups on one tee. Are you kidding......someone needs to allow more time for the big group to get around, ranger the big group, or cancel afternoon tee times.
Read the reviews—slow play shows up in almost all comments. This is fixable and more profitable, if fixed, then getting one nd drones like me. A Wes starter/ranger once told me that the first group off sets the pace for the day. Most courses do not Ranger the early morning groups which then creates the backup.
Loved everything about the course except pace.
A Little Disappointing
I hadn't played Windham in roughly a decade, and I remembered liking it. But I'm not sure why. The only exceptional green was the putting green. The course greens varied from decent to terrible. Sometimes it was just a bad section, but a couple greens were lousy all over. Also, too many blind shots. I prefer there be no blind shots. Windham has a couple blind shots and a handful of semi-blind shots. I hit a great drive down the left side on 7, or so I thought. It came to rest in the right rough at the edge of a bunker. Nearly unplayable!
I wish I could recommend Windham, as I'm a fan of Bill Flynn and Far Corner. But not this summer. Not at full price.
Very interesting course
Course layout is great, challenging yet very playable. Narrow fairways, your shots need to be accurate. Pace of play was slow, course was packed & inexperienced players affected time. Overall, nice course.
It was very quiet today we played 18 in 3hrs which was great. We drove from Boston to try this course and we def loved it. I usually play in stow because of the great golf now prices. But I'm going to switch up if the value continue and it's a much better course.
The course was in much better shape when I played it few years back.
Great layout. Tees need som work. Greens were ok. But layout is awesome!
Negative experience
First time playing now here. The course has many elevation changes and pretty tight. Not very forgiving. The pace of play was extremely slow. 2hrs and 45 minutes to play 9 holes. There was a back up on every hole. I had to leave after the 15th. Wasn’t my favorite course. IF I come back maybe I’ll try a weekday.
Good course for the money
The course was wet as to be expected. Overall conditions were good for the beginning of the season. Looking forward to playing again this year.
Truly a wonderful course
I almost decided not to go there after reading so many negative reviews. I am still trying to understand why after having played there this afternoon. Super friendly staff and local players. I truly enjoyed the course very scenic holes, long and narrow but always fair. The tee box were absolutely fine. Water comes into play on multiple holes and makes this course challenging and super fun. I will go back for sure as this course deserves a lot of great reviews enjoy and play there ignore the bad reviews from the past.
Thank you as I had a great time.
Slow play and rude members
I usually play this course 4 times per month. It’s a great value and pace of play is usually excellent. This time they had a league and playing just 7 holes took us 2.5 hours. We tried to skip a few holes to get past the back up. After attempting this, a group of members said they are playing a tournament and we can’t skip any holes. I don’t mind this being explained by staff, not by a member. I am a paying customer and play golf around 3 times per week. I will attempt this round one more time, if it happens again I will play else where.
Have played here several times over the years, but this time a real disappointment. Tee goes and fairways all crab grass, difficult to hit thru. Layout is good, w a variety of holes. Very disappointed in course conditions, and not cheap to play there.
Very challenging golf course!
This course is not for the faint at heart. Bring your A game because even from the white tees (5900yrds.) it plays long and narrow. Three or four very short holes makes the yardage diseaving.
Crab Grass
Not worth the money. Crab grass was everywhere. Fairways were in poor shape. Tee boxes were mostly dirt and not level. There are much better options that are close by with better conditions with similar or less money. It is too bad because the layout is decent and the staff is friendly. The course needs some serious TLC.
Good layout that needs a little attention.
Nice layout with a good variety of holes... uphill/downhill, short/long, etc. The greens were in excellent condition even with the large amount of rain lately. The tee boxes were pretty bare of grass and not level on many holes. Fairways could also use some attention.
Clubhouse staff was very friendly and ranger was helpful in getting our group past a rather slow group ahead of us. Overall, I’d probably come back here, but I hope some of the conditions mentioned above are addressed.
Thanks for the review. We are beginning some tee renovations in the next 2 weeks. Hoping for some dryer weather to help improve overall conditions.
Great Staff and Layout
I continue to be impressed with this course. The layout is challenging and fair. If you're looking for your next golf course. This is it.
Peter, sorry for your experience. It was a very difficult spring and summer for preventative crab grass control (too rainy). We have treated most areas in the past week. We are beginning renovation on several tees in next 2 weeks. I hope you will give us another chance later in the year. Please email me if you plan to return, thepro@windhamcc.com Thanks
