Decent Course, Really Rude Staff
The starter who was working during my twilight tee time on May 12 was continually rude and hostile to my group throughout the day. From the second I got out of the car, I was being accosted with comments about my phone, my clothing, the golf cart we were in, how to warm up, etc. I thought this would get better once the round began but upon reaching the turn, I was promptly called “a Dick” by this staff member.
It is a shame because this course is in pretty good shape and should be a really good value for its price, but with staff behavior like this, I have to cross this one off my list.

Always Good
Really good old school golf course. Visually nice holes, and always in good shape.
Tough greens, so take a good look at the the read of the putt.

Not enough time. Played 15 holes only
The back nine slowed up and we couldn’t finish the whole 18 rounds because of closing gates due to closing time.

I have been saving the course
I had heard that the course had been redone and was in great shape lately. I finally got a chance to get out. It has always been hard to find a teetime.

Nice course layout, smooth greens, fairways need some work
Tltle says it all. A good course just the fairways need some fertilizer and some additional work.

Spoiled by playing in Arizona
Since Hendricks was renovated, it's certainly a nice layout and great golf course for northern New Jersey.
However, the fairways are not in good shape perhaps because it's early in the season. I look forward to playing there again later this year to see if the fairways improve.
The greens were in good shape relatively free of any bumps like I see on my local county course and the bowl seems to travel well.
I will say Hendricks has upgraded many things at this course so it's worth playing here for sure. I really like the electric carts with a video screen for yardage to the hole, no gas smell, no noise, so that was a treat. I just wish the fairways were in better shape.

Course Condition
Course is not in good shape. Greens are ok, but the fairways and ruff need a lot of work. Grass is not consistant or in some cases non-existant.

MUST PLAY
As a local, I am constantly trying to find a “home” public course which is cost effective and challenging. Hendricks not only is cost effective, but in great condition and challenging enough for a mid handicapper like me. If you’re in the area, you must check it out.

Slow greens
It's Winter but all tee boxes are open. Greens are slow but grass is still brown. Some fairways do not drain well - it rained the yesterday morning. Good challenging greens.

Hendricks GC
I like the layout. The greens are somewhat battered. Some ballmarks are not fixed. Fall leaves are all over. Maybe by spring the course will be ok. I will play there again. Staff and starter were friendly and flexible.

Enjoyable Except
Many nice things can be said but if you have to wait several minutes to tee off on the last 15 holes it makes for a long day
That is something that you have in common with Byrne.
There used to be rangers at both courses who reminded slow players to move along. You did not even have to call the clubhouse to complain.
A ranger is a rare site these days and, if you should spot one, they are not at all effective.
It is a shame. My group is average in skill but we make sure that we do keep up.

Solid especially for December
Course was in decent shape considering it was December. The bunkers were hard but it was in the 30s. There was one group ahead of us slowing the pace and really appreciate the ranger coming out and making them pick up the pace. Lots of courses don't seem to do that recently.
