One of many scenic holes at Spring Meadow Photo submitted by Cory3302115 on 06/23/2014
Soid course
Solid round. Course was in decent but not great shape. Rough was really thick and it seemed like they just hadn't gotten around to cutting it. No water out on the course and concession stand at the turn was closed. Only option was to buy something before the round started or after hole 4/5. Tough on a hot day. Disappointing for Memorial Day weekend
RIP Spring Meadow
This was never Augusta, but it was an OK course. It has completely gone downhill. Tee boxes are hard packed dirt with a patch of clover here and there. Greens aren't horrible which is probably the only good thing that can be said about the course. Beyond that, the bridge on 15 is collapsed into the water. Speaking of water, there is none on the course. Instead of filling up the water Coolers on the course, they pay a ranger to yell at golfers to pick up the pace which happened to us on the 5th tee box after waiting for the group in front of us on almost every shot on the first 4 holes. It is really ashame what happened to this course. On top of everything, the barrestsurant is closed and there is no halfway house
Great condition
Course was in great shape, would definitely play here again
Horrible course.
One of the worse courses in new jersey wise. Over grown trees over tee boxes on the par 3. Bridges collapsed. Tee boxes closed. unfriendly rangers. Practice range hasn't had any work into it since the place opened up. Absolutely no clothing restrictions. Wouldn't be a problem but the price they charge course should be in better condition
Great option in NJ
Course is kept up nicely for past 3 yrs.. Unfortunately the State of NJ is lease holder… and always find a way to screen up a great place.
Recently closed bar n restaurant , prior to getting a new business owner.
So no food or drink at course..
Dying out
Someone clearly stopped caring whose efforts were very important to the course conditions. Showed up for a hot deal tee time which I understand is a reduced rate, but was told I had to walk, which I understood under the conditions, but they offered no carts lol.
Does The State Spend Any Money Here?
Let me preface this by saying that this was my home course in High School and have played here for 15 years. Played 5/2 for $65 during the week, Aerated Greens with NO SAND in the aeration holes...85 degree day, No water on the course, no cart girl, no half way house, no restaurant any longer. Flags on every hole are tattered and need to be replaced, pins are crooked and not set properly, the bridge on 15 is completely washed out, Tee box on the 9th hole has massively overgrown trees causing you to tee off basically on the side of the tee box. For $65 I would advise you to golf elsewhere, hopefully the State of NJ uses our tax dollars and spruces this place up soon.
Course needs work
The state needs to put money into the course to improve or worst case sell it to someone who can make it great again. MSMGa
Make spring meadow. Great Again
Good course
Recently aerated greens. Otherwise good day on the course.
Weekend public golf
The course itself was well maintained overall. The tee boxes were a little rough, but the fairways, rough and greens were in really good shape. Except for all the untended ball marks on the greens; many of which my group fixed while we were there.
Pace of play was atrocious, but it’s weekend public golf. Probably could have called the office to have someone speed up the group in front of us, but the group in front of them was equally as slow. We never saw the group in front of them. The group two in front of us teed off on a par five and even the green was empty. The group in front of us was somehow lagging behind them. I had multiple balls of mine just off my fairway picked up by other groups, who pretended to not hear me over the cart and their music blaring. I had to take drops in the vicinity of where my balls were taken.
The course layout was challenging and fun. There are some areas in need of maintenance. The netting and fencing at the driving range is in disrepair, the bathroom is pretty beat up, there are a few holes close together with netting which is all in disrepair. I would play again during the week with an earlier tee time or on the weekend, but only with a pre-8am tee time. This course in the morning before the crowd probably feels very different.
RIP Spring Meadow (The diamond in the rough turned rough)
Where do I begin? The bar has been closed since the new year. No half way. No food. No drinks. It’s sad cause the bar was popular with good food and drinks, friendly staff, fair pricing, live music. Gone. The staff is great. Maintenance is definitely working with what they have and it’s not much. No aeration in many seasons though greens are in great shape. Tee boxes are awful. Looks like zero maintenance in years. Seed and fertilizer go a long way. Trees hanging in front of tee boxes on several holes. Where is the funding to get this place a little TLC? Fairways were well, fair. It’s sad to know what this place was and what it could be and watch it start to fall apart. State owned and no money going into it…I’m sure it will be developed on soon. Picture says it all…RIP Spring Meadow.
Fun Course
Early in season so course isnt great. Last year course condition Best in 20 years.
Bar restaurant is Closed ATT, hopefully state with select another vendor soon.
Great course rough cart path
Course played great cart path could use some maintenance.
Zero Maintenance into course.
Minimum to zero maintenance performed on course. I don’t even think they have a maintenance crew. Way overpriced for the condition of course. Tee boxes are nonexistent greens are mediocre. Seems like they are just collecting income and not putting anything into course. No pride into course either. Early morning tee time and you can’t even fix the cart path ropes while passing by it??
