One of many scenic holes at Spring Meadow Photo submitted by Cory3302115 on 06/23/2014
This golf course needs a lot of work - fairways and tee boxes in particular.
I used to be a regular when the state ran the course and this was my first time playing since new ownership took over. My buddyand I looked forward to playing an old friend once again. We both aniticipated a new and improved course as the rates and hype indicated as such. To our dismay the course was in worse shape from when we used to play it - very disappointed to say the least !
Nice place to score!!
While the course has a lot of water damage it
really does have some nice visual holes and nice
greens to putt on!! You can score here if you
keep your ball in play!!
This course needs attention
Could be a great course but the greens were terrible. Tee boxs were all chewed up and fairways were average. Great lay out and design. Not worth $60 in the condition I played it in. I have played here in the past and the course wasn't nearly this bad. Hope they fix it soon.
This course is in very good condition
This course was in very good condition. The course is very short but still tough. The greens are in great shape and the pin locations were very difficult. Overall, this was very good value and I would recommend the course to others.
Nice Course
Nice course I would play it again. Easy course to walk.
Slow play and terrible tee boxes and green conditions
Not sure I have much more to say but if I need to say more then read the summary again
Pleasant Afternoon of Golf
I enjoyed playing this course. Like any course, it had some very interesting and chalenging holes on it. I would definately recomend that you play this course.
much improved since state ownership, decent for the money
I played this tract when run by the state and it is definitely much improved. Greens are in nice shape. I played the day after rain, and there was water in many traps and lots of low areas. Fairways and rough were just ok, lots of dirt and mud mixed with tufts of greenery. It is not a high end course but for the money a pretty fair deal. If you haven't played since new management took over (2011?) may be worth a look.
nice course, very lush fairways
course is in decent shape, needs work in some places, some greens are not in great shape, air aiding holes will hopefully will go away soon, just started playing this course, and have enjoyed it
Great Course
The course is well kept and scenic when traveling between holes. Nice mix of par 3s, 4s, and 5s. I will be playing there again.
Not thrilled
Course has not grown in at all. Didn't appear to have been watered in days. Greens were not receptive. Pitching wedges would not hold. They have made great strides recently but definitely feel they have taken a step back.
Course could use a lot of work....
Overall, our foursome's experience at Spring Meadow was very disappointing. The course requires a lot of attention. The fairways were very patchy and burnt up, the greens, despite their small size also needed a lot of work. Off the first tee there was a lot of confusion...there were 3 flagsticks in the distance that were only 20 to 30 yards away from each other which were separated by black netting hung from the trees! Very odd. The staff left much to be desired as well. The ranger rudley alerted to as that we needed to pick up the pace multiple times when there was another foursome in front of us holding us up. I would not recommend this course to anyone. Pay the extra money to play one of the many great courses the area has to offer instead.
Nice Golf Course
the best out of the two New Jersey's parks golf courses.
Poor conditions
Course was in poor shape. Pace of place was SLOOOW! Had to skip 3 holes in order to finish in 5hrs!
Course is in bad condition
For a state regulated course I was hoping it would be in better shape, like the county courses. I would not spend more than $15 to play this course.
Great Course!
This course was a pleasant surprise. I played it a few years ago and it was a mess. This course has come a long way in 3 years.
The fairways are generous, but the greens are challenging. PICK YOUR LANDING AREAS for sure. The views are pleasant, and the course is excellantly maintained. I will make this a regular stop.
Spring Meadow
Since the new management has taken over, I have seen some marked improvements in this State-owned, private managed course. The improvements are not completed i.e., refurbishing bunkers, crushed stone cart paths, fariway and green management, etc., but from the past state run course it's on it's way to becoming one of the better courses in the Central Jersey area. Between Hurricane Sandy and course upgrades, some trees and hazards have either been removed or marked better, creating a faster pace of play. The back nine is still the more difficult half of the course but it should be enjoyable for the high handicapper as well as the scratch player. Looking forward to playing it later in the summer to see how the improvements have come along.
Good layout. Needs work.
I played Spring meadows for a golfnow special price of $18.00 when the course normaly costs $50. At $50 the course is overpriced by about $15. It should be a $30 to $35 course. Plus the manager told me that they are going to restrict the golfnow players to certain tee times because the members are complaing about the golfnow players. First of all, it is a NJ state owned course so, I would consider any resident of New Jersey to be a member. Second, if someone wants to overpay for a course thats their privilege. The course is a nice layout but it does need to be maintained better. I played it after hurricane Sandy and they were doing alot of cleanup but they had to.
cool place to play, would like to play again
like alot, would like to play again, challenging holes and scenic views
Good course.
This course is in really good shape for the time of year, the greens are in great shape. The fairways are at best average but its November. The Staff is helpful and friendly.
