Pinch Brook Golf Course
About
Pinch Brook Golf Course in Florham Park may be a short course, but it should not be underestimated. The layout offers all the challenges of a championship course conveniently wrapped in an executive-length course. Water hazards come into play on nearly every hole, including a pond on the seventh that is shaped like the state of New Jersey. The elevated and undulating greens putt fast and true. They present a test for even the most seasoned golfers. The par-3 holes are particularly tough. Most of them feature strategically placed bunkers fiercely guarding the double-tiered greens, that or a forced carry. The golf course is great for honing your short game skills or for squeezing in a quick but challenging round. Pinch Brook G.C. is hailed by locals as the best short course in northern New Jersey.

Good enough
Easy course for my wife - except #9. Play couples golf 9 holes here. Close to home and just very easy. Often slow as was gthis round, despite a ranger trying rto speed things up. Big rain over a week ago and many badly unprepared areas. And tees more sand than grass. But good enough for us for what we need it for.
Worst I've seen it
Sad to say but Pinchbrook is not worth playing as of 8/4/24. The bunkers have no sand in them - just mud and rocks. The blue and white tees however are full of sand - you cannot find enough grass on the tee to be able to tee your ball up and also be standing on grass at the same time. It's a mess of sand filled divots and Un even stances. Greens are ok but lots of chopped areas.
Definitely not worth the money they are charging to play here. It is sad - I've been playing here for 30 years and it's on a downward spiral.
Great Value with county card
tee boxes and greens need some help, fairways are in great shape. Think the biggest trouble on greens is that simple fact nearly no one fixes their divots and with the volume of players it’s a never ending battle for the greens crew
Slow pace with ranger not in charge
Courses are in good condition. However, golfers do not know the golf ethic on the crowded day to speed up the walk after play. Ranger is not in sight to control the group with slow play.
Great course!
This is a great course! Well kept and challenging. Only course issue were tee boxes in bad shape. Only other thing I would recommend are friendlier staff. I do not care about being hazed by the course manager when I’m 10 minutes before my time and being told I’m late, but I can confidently say others will have a problem. It’s life, people are late, this isn’t the masters.
Tough greens, playable fairways, tee boxes need some work
It was my first time playing this par 65. A lot of opportunity to par or birdie on many holes. Turns out that the most challenging hole on the course is the one that I actually birdied.. Lots of opportunity to use your 6 through 9 irons. Greens were incredible tough for a par 65 course. Beautiful scenery and a few water features make this course very enjoyable for $40 on a Monday with a cart
Good course and value
Course was in very good shape.
Starter was a little overwhelmed, but then loosened up.
Not enough carts. As you get off someone else needs to get on.
Pace of play was slower than other times.
Slowest round I’ve ever played
I have played Pinch Brooke several times before and usually it is a really quick and good round. Par only being 65 usually makes for a quick round (somewhere in the 4 hour range). On a Monday morning, usually a 7:40 tee time is pretty good. This Monday was unbelievably slow. The other golfer I played with and I left after 12 holes because it had already been 3 and a half hours. When we came back, carts heading out asked us how it was, we told them about the pace of play, the starter who was within ear shot, rather than saying anything remotely sympathetic told us that we were wrong about how long it had been and that we were exaggerating. I have lasted there a lot. It was slow, very slow. We saw a ranger on the 8th hole and then never again. For a par 65 to take anything over 4.5 hours is ludicrous, especially on a weekday. I would have gladly gone back to try another day but after the interaction with the starter, I will pass.
Pace of play was better than I expected compared to other course in the area. Teed off at 7am and finished before 11am. Fairways and greens were all in great shape, hats off the grounds crew!
However wished I did a little more research before playing, I wasn’t fully aware of all the par 3s throughout the course… a total of nine to be exact!
