Pinch Brook Golf Course
About
Pinch Brook Golf Course in Florham Park may be a short course, but it should not be underestimated. The layout offers all the challenges of a championship course conveniently wrapped in an executive-length course. Water hazards come into play on nearly every hole, including a pond on the seventh that is shaped like the state of New Jersey. The elevated and undulating greens putt fast and true. They present a test for even the most seasoned golfers. The par-3 holes are particularly tough. Most of them feature strategically placed bunkers fiercely guarding the double-tiered greens, that or a forced carry. The golf course is great for honing your short game skills or for squeezing in a quick but challenging round. Pinch Brook G.C. is hailed by locals as the best short course in northern New Jersey.

Tough greens, playable fairways, tee boxes need some work
It was my first time playing this par 65. A lot of opportunity to par or birdie on many holes. Turns out that the most challenging hole on the course is the one that I actually birdied.. Lots of opportunity to use your 6 through 9 irons. Greens were incredible tough for a par 65 course. Beautiful scenery and a few water features make this course very enjoyable for $40 on a Monday with a cart
Good course and value
Course was in very good shape.
Starter was a little overwhelmed, but then loosened up.
Not enough carts. As you get off someone else needs to get on.
Pace of play was slower than other times.
Slowest round I’ve ever played
I have played Pinch Brooke several times before and usually it is a really quick and good round. Par only being 65 usually makes for a quick round (somewhere in the 4 hour range). On a Monday morning, usually a 7:40 tee time is pretty good. This Monday was unbelievably slow. The other golfer I played with and I left after 12 holes because it had already been 3 and a half hours. When we came back, carts heading out asked us how it was, we told them about the pace of play, the starter who was within ear shot, rather than saying anything remotely sympathetic told us that we were wrong about how long it had been and that we were exaggerating. I have lasted there a lot. It was slow, very slow. We saw a ranger on the 8th hole and then never again. For a par 65 to take anything over 4.5 hours is ludicrous, especially on a weekday. I would have gladly gone back to try another day but after the interaction with the starter, I will pass.
Pace of play was better than I expected compared to other course in the area. Teed off at 7am and finished before 11am. Fairways and greens were all in great shape, hats off the grounds crew!
However wished I did a little more research before playing, I wasn’t fully aware of all the par 3s throughout the course… a total of nine to be exact!
Very Good, Enjoyable Short Course
A walkable course as well, except for seniors and with sun, humidity & temperatures in the 90's.
Must match up riding golfers w/ only riding golfers
I had an unpleasant situation Fri 21-Jun-2024: I and one other gentleman were both walking and the other two in our foursome were driving. After 9 holes the other walking golfer was finished, leaving me and the twosome in golf cart. On the 14th hole the woman Donna said that, to get ahead of the sun and heat, she wanted basically to let the two of them tee off w/o me, such that they would play through me, who, even w/ 238 yd drive on the 14th hole that was farther than both cart riders by more than 50 yd. Even after I parred that hole, she again wished for me to fall back and not drive my ball until the’d reached the 15th green. I asked to join a twosome of one walker and one rider. Theses two permitted me to play holes 15-19.
I always ask the Pro Shop if my partners are riding or walking, and the Pro shop attendant said he didn’t know the walking or riding status of the others in my foursome
after the rain
heavy overnight rain did not stop this course from performing. grounds crews were working and despite some soggy spots, the tee boxes and greens were tidy and fast. kudos
