Farmstead Golf & Country Club - Clubview/Valleyview Course
About
The Clubview nine, which opened in 1963, is the original course at the 27-hole Farmstead Golf & Country Club, located in northwest New Jersey, approximately one hour from New York City. Offering a traditional mix of par 3s, par 4s and par 5s, accuracy is key on the Byron Phoebus-designed course. The Clubview nine closes with two very demanding holes, the long par-4 eighth, with an approach shot over water, and the par-3 ninth, which is surrounded by water.

PLAY
Pace of play was very slow , maybe set tee times at 15 minute intervals instead of 10 minutes
Solid Golf Course
I've been playing Farmstead for years now. They stay busy, so when you can get a tee time at a good rate, jump on it.
Plays very fair. Execute your shot and you can score well.
Condition
The course was in impeccable condition. Hats of to ground crew.
Ok except for pairing
To start off no driving range there is a putting green to chip/put on. That is a bit of a downside for me as I like to warm up a bit before a round.
Starter was a good guy. He’s got a job to do and keep groups going out and he did that very well. I believe they were running a bit early even so next time I’d get there a bit sooner. He was talkative and friendly to all of us there.
Pro shop was incredibly friendly and helpful. Being a beginner any help/thought to get tee times helps me. I truly appreciated the lady at the counters helps and advice.
Overall course is in good shape. Plays well. My only complaint is the rushing of play as a beginner. That might be what would make me hesitant playing here in the future. To be fair that could’ve been the people we were paired with that caused that issue.
Overall though i would recommend. There is a big chance I play again especially as I get better.
LOOK AT THE FINE PRINT!!
Man - I was so excited to go out golfing with my brothers on 4th of July weekend. I saw a Hot Deal for $25 on Golf Now, so I immediately booked it! SCORE!
I get to the course to check in and.... I booked a disc golf tee time...
The only thing indicating that it was disc golf was the course name "Disc Valley" -- I wasn't aware of any of the course names, so this didn't come across as a red flag for me.
Luckily, the staff were very nice in the Pro Shop, saying that this isn't the first time this has happened.
I felt like a dummy and rightfully so -- I'm just hoping other people read this and will pay more attention than I did!
7:40 Tee Time
Perfect day for golf. Club/Lake course was in great condition. Pace of play was good even though it was July 4th and had many golfers out on the course. Slower group in front of us and finished in 4:30. Couldn't ask for a better round. Staff was friendly, pricing was good. Always enjoy this course.
