Farmstead Golf & Country Club - Lakeview/Clubview Course
About
Water comes into play on six holes on the Lakeview nine at the 27-hole Farmstead Golf & Country Club, which is located in northwest New Jersey approximately an hour from New York City. None is more challenging than the closing hole, a very short -- but very intimidating -- par 3 over water. The Byron Phoebus design opened in 1965.

Awful experience
The starter is rude and condescending. The course is a poor layout and the valley course is 4 par three's, all in terrible condition.
Not worth the time with so many other nice courses in the area, but if you are desperate, you can always get a tee time.
Great weather - super fun
I played this past Saturday with 3 lads I never met before. We played 18 holes in about 4 hours and fun was had by all. The tee boxes were in very good condition as was the rest of the course.
The staff was extremely friendly from the gentleman who was working the Pro Shop to the ladies who sold bevs and hot dogs and the young man who cleaned the carts! Excellent customer service. I will be back very soon!!
My Favorite Course in NJ
Truly you can't beat the value and conditions of this course. Starting with check in, the people are amazing. The starter is great and don't miss the chance to say hi to Noah, the beautiful course mascot that checks everyone out. Wildlife galore, beautiful views and some serious water make this a five star course.... Three 9 hole courses that are all completely different giving lots of variation to your game. Valley is my favorite 9 but extremely challenging. Take your phone so you can capture some great pictures. We have played here at lest twice a month this past year and I've never been let down. Okay, one issue... I wish the tee boxes were a little flatter.
Pretty Setting
Enjoyed my round. Was teamed up with a foursome and pace of play was right on target. I shot an 88 so this is now my new favorite course!
Lake/Club
There are 3 nine hole courses. I like Lake and Club the best. Fun to play and good conditions although the greens were a little bumpy today. My favorite was the #5 on the Club, par 5, with water protecting the green short right.
Farmstead
Played the Lakeview and and Clubview courses (9 holes each). There is a fair amount of water and the rough is of a length that will appropriately cost strokes if shots are not in the fairway. Greens are challenging and fast. Each hole has some unique aspect that makes the courses very interesting.
Excellent restaurant. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. No practice range but the practice green was the same speed as the course greens.
Fantastic all the way around
Great course all the way around. From the staff to the tee boxes, fairways, rough, and greens. Everything is birdie golf or better at Farmstead. Great bar with awesome beers on tap and bottled with great food to keep you from getting hungry on the back 9. Can't wait to play again!
Fantastic.
Course was unbelieveable. Great layout, right amount of difficulty, bang for your buck golf. Farmstead is also a beautiful course in general. I drove 40 minutes to play here and was well worth it.
good value great staff fast rounds
This is the course I play the most. It is almost always in good shape and the greens are consistent but on the slower side. this is a course that gets a lot of outings but still holds up. It is a great value to play and the bar and food are good. It is a 3 Star course so if you are expecting more you might be disappointed.
Lots of water, a bit challenging, great course.
Nicely kept, somewhat challenging course. Wild life everywhere. Lots of water but fair.
Farmstead
Farmstead has grown on me in recent years. It is really an old-school layout where shotmaking and strategy come into play. Also a lot of water, especially on the back 9. 9 on both the Club and lake view will drive most players nuts with the amount of water. bring extra balls. The whites seem way short and the back tees are where the challenge is. Some of the back tee boxes are obstructed by overhanging trees which penalizes you if you happen to hit a very high trajectory driver like I do. (all of my clubs are a high ball flight). Greens are in great shape and quick since the grass hasn't really started to grow in yet. fariways are in good shape, some of them on clubview seemed a bit shaggy.
Nice course to play
Very nice golf course. 3 nine hole courses. Layout is nice and course conditions are always good.
This is a great course
I love playing this course , it is always in excellent conditions. It is fun to play, not too easy not too difficult. Just right.
Great course
Golf now hot deal 25 bucks can't go wrong...really nice course one of my favorite north Jersey courses..
Great course
The course is rather short but it was in a great condition considering we played during winter..
Not so cold winter golf packed with golfer
It is a nice December afternoon. The course is still in good shape. The whole course is fully loaded. The pace of play was good.
it is glad place
good condition of play this cose. you will be enjoy.
Great Nov golf.
The course is in great shape. They are always working to improve things. Tee boxes and Greens were great.
Bait and switch
When you book farmstead lake/club you expect to play lake/club. This was the nicest day this fall so it was probably overbooked. Ken the starter insinuated he had been sending groups out every 5 minutes..doesn't bode well for pace of play and back up on the course. Valley 9 is nonsense. Four par 3s, and nonsensical par 4s. A 409 yard par 5 followed by a 433 yard par 4. Just nonsense. Lake and club are beautiful and that is why I would recommend...but he sure you get to play what you book...I was very turned off to this place by the switching of our round.
Where are the rangers?
The course says they're enforcing pace of play but I've been playing here for years and don't recall EVER seeing a ranger on the course. We could have used one yesterday. The pace of play was SLOW. The starter sent out at least 2 groups of twosomes ahead of us who were horrible golfers crating a backup. Worse, these 2 pairs of twosomes never hooked up to create a foursome. There was no sign of a ranger who could prompt these hackers to pick up the pace. We had to wait on every hole. Meanwhile, while waiting, we could see wide open holes ahead of theses slow groups. Where was the ranger to enforce pace of play? Also, many golfers at this course don't seem to realize that the rakes near the bunkers aren't just for decoration. I'm tired of finding my ball in footprints in the bunkers left by other golfers who don't bother to rake. I guess this venue gets a lot of bad golfers who don't know golf course etiquette.
