Lakewood fills the void for Ocean County golfers
A decent course not too far from Point and Brick and easy to get out most of the time. Lakewood is decent shape this year, including greens. Played a few times this season and plan to continue.

This course RULES!
The staff was very friendly and accommodating, Bob and Doc truly are some golf purists. Couldn’t ask for a better experience and the pace of play was perfect on a undoubtedly busy 4th of July.

Great course, so no great amenities
Great staff, great course, cart girls very nice, solid pricing, amenities. I’d come here again and again. Some of the golfers didn’t know basic golf etiquette but that’s not the course fault!

No Waiting
Good pace per round, no waiting between hoods. Course in good condition, looking forward to another round.

Single players beware
I've played Lakewood numerous times over the years. The layout is good and it's generally in good shape. I've never been keen on the staff behind the counter but the starter and the cart staff are pretty nice, so no big deal. Last time I booked a reservation through GolfNow though I was the only player for that tee time. When I checked in I was told I needed to pay an extra $10 for the cart or wait to be paired with another single, which would have been 2 hours later! This was ludicrous. I didn't request to ride single, so why should I be charged extra??? Does that mean that every time a group has an odd number of players the single guy will be charged extra??? It's even more annoying because the last time I played there we were only 2 players and they let us use 2 different carts!! Come on, stop the greed people! Ended up cancelling the reservation and swore to myself: never again!

Bunkers need a lot of work as does cart path on back nine.

Hidden gem.
A nice course to play in an area lacking many low cost options.. A challenging layout for better golfers but suitable for high handicappers.
The staff is very friendly and the pace of play around 4:15 - 4:30 hours.
I will definitely play there again.

Better than you’d think.
Played here quite a few times this season and for the money it is great. Would be nice to see a little more maintenance on the fairways but for me Lakewood suites my game.
