Favorite Course
This is one of my favorite courses to play. The layout is good, not too challenging, long enough but not too long. The conditions are normally excellent but I just played after a rainy night so the course had some standing water on it and since it's still only March, the grass still needs to grow which will absorb some water. The staff is always friendly and courteous and there is also an awesome Tiki Bar waiting for you after you finish the 18th hole. It's always a treat for me and my guests to play here.

Most greens and fairways were awful

Great course, fun to play
The course is in pretty good shape for this time of the year. Fairways are coming along and the greens were in surprisingly good smooth condition! Wide Fairways give even the novice a chance . Water only plays on two holes. Greens are good size, a little on the firm side, but that makes it challenging!
Only criticism is the fact of singles and two players not being joined to a group of four. As a foursome, we let one twosome through, there was two twosomes in front of us and we still were being pushed by another twosome. Putting them together would open more tee times as well as establish a better pace of play. I did appreciate the snack shack being open as well as the beverage cart running thr course. We always enjoy our day at lakewood GC, and the food at the clubhouse is oretty good too! Looking forward to our next visit as long as weather and prices permit !
Good value
This course is our go to place One reason is value The other is good drainage and no annoying cart path only rules except for par 3s
The staff are super friendly and always willing to help
I also like the food at Maggie’s and the new owner of the food concession

LCC golf
It is an old course, not ina great shape, all tee boxes full of litter, fairways are not maintained and greens are also maintained.
Too much money for this type of course. You can play much better courses in Monmouth county for lot less.

Time for sprucing up!
Lakewood has a.long history of golf course existence. However, maintenance is lagging behind. Some bright paint and clutter organization is long overdue. I noticed a piece of trim fell off the vanity in the men's room. All that is needed is a 36" piece of 1x2 to replace it. However, it stays undone. It would clean up well
The course is long and wide.. a pleasant opportunity to "spread your wings"..

Just ok
I can't really complain about the conditions due to the fact that it is end of Feb. I will make one suggestion.
Either let people check in early, or let people get a bucket of range balls without having to wait on line!
I got there around 40 minutes early so I could warm up on the range and was told I could not check in. So i had to wait on line 15 minutes to get a bucket, then come back and wait another 15 minutes to check in.
