A driving range would make this course a 5 star
I haven't played this course in over 3 years ands man has it improved. As soon as I pulled up, a pro shop worker pulled up with a golf cart asking if I needed a ride to the pro shop. I told him I was waiting for a buddy so he left me with the golf cart and said whenever I'm ready I can take it to the pro shop. Talk about service! Once I arrived at the pro shop, I was informed about the current course conditions and was given free metal divot tools as their encouragement to fix your divots and any ones that was left behind.
Here's there biggest downside. No driving range! That would've made this course a 5 star, but I can't complain too much since the golf now deal was so great, The practices greens were great except for the greens keepers were aerating the fringe while golfer's were practicing. It also had a practice bunker with decent sand.
As far as the course goes, it's in really nice shape with excellent fairways and greens that rolled true. During this time, the leaves were all over, but greens keepers were constantly keeping the fairways and greens as clean as possible except for the 11th hole which was nearly impossible to keep clean. The biggest improvement were the tee boxes. The last I played there, they were in terrible shape with lots of divots with no sand to fill over. This time they were flat and maintained, but still no sand to fill.
I highly recommend everyone to give this course a try. It's challenging with lots of water in the front nine and narrow fairways through out the course which will challenge everyone to keep the ball in play. Can't wait till another golfnow deal comes up.
Great Expirience
Good pace of play, know your course is a must :).
Nice and friendly staff...
Spoiled has been country club
It was just an all-around bad experience. The employees were the worst and they set tempo for the whole club.
I feel sorry for the person that hired the staff.
Spoiled has been country club
Played here a few yrs back and the course was in good shape. The area was just as the employees set it, poor. The worst is to be around people that think they are better than you. I feel sad for the person that hired the staff.
Good luck and grow a smile!
This course has plenty of water.
We play a FerdEX with 10 players six times a year and this was our final round for the year. We decided to play Knob Hill because of the challenging holes. This course is tight in the beginning with water everywhere. The conditions were above average especially with all the different weather we've had this summer. Other courses we played were not in as good shape as Knob Hill. The greens are quick but true. You need to look at the score card and a GPS if you have one becuase some great shots can get you in trouble if you aren't paying attention. The starter was friendly and had a nice smile when he gave us prelimenary round details.
Short course but in nice shape
I was down in the area and I booked this as a "Hot Deal" tee time in the afternoon, so I was very happy for what I got for the money. The course is very short and only a par 70. If you're a long hitter, all the par 5's are reachable in 2, and a couple of the par 4's you can get to in 1 (i.e. around 300 yards from the white tees). I wasn't crazy about how short the course was, but overall I thought the course was in very good shape. As long as the course is groomed nice, I'm happy. I'd certainly play the course again if I got another good price on it. I wouldn't pay full price though.
Interesting Layout, Good Conditioning
Read recent reviews about bare fairways, but we didn't experience that. A few bare spots, but mostly just fine. Played it down all over and had no problems. Greens were holding fine and maintained at proper speed. Too bad many players don't repair ball marks - a few too many here for my liking.
I would play here again for sure. Looks like aerification starts Sept. 3, so i can't take a group of 7 there next weekend. Otherwise, I would.
We played slowly because we were grouped with a couple of real hackers - they were fun, but got their money's worth. We could have easily played in 4-1/4 hours.
enjoyable round of golf
Course in fairly good shape. Greens in great shape, pretty quick. Fairways a little shabby in the low spots, probably due to all the rain this season. Played in a little over 4 hours. Outdoor grill at the turn a nice feature. Staff all very friendly and helpful
Awesome
Course is in awesome condition and great for the 35 dollars hot deal i had
Decent course if you get a discount price
I played this course on a Sunday and some holes were in great shape and others were just in terrible shape. Mostly the problems were in the fairways. Some of the greens had Hornets nest in the ground on or around them. The layout is a fun mix of holes. Could have done without the few that ran parallel with the high voltage lines. I would like to go back when the course is in better condition but with the conditions I played on I will be staying away for awhile. The beverage cart did come around almost every three holes which I thought was a plus.
The Fairways need Work.
The Fairways were horrible! There was no grass. It was like you were hitting off dirt. The Staff was not very pleasant. Will not play there again.
The course was a good value for the price
The starter was super friendly, as was the attendant in the clubhouse and restaurant. While we were waiting to start, we had a great conversation with the replacement starter for the twilght tee times. She shared great course knowledge, as this was our 1st time playing the course. The course needs some TLC for the tee boxes, but overall the value was spot on for the price paid.
The Course has a Great setting.
It's one of the Best courses we have played so far! We Change our course weekly. But I think we will visit Knob Hill again very shortly! The guys at the check in (Kevin & Matt) were Great. Very, very accommodating!
Great Value
I've played Knob Hill GC in Manalapan, NJ a few times over the last 15 years. It has matured since it was first built. It is not an easy course, but it is not overly difficult. It requires you to think about club selection as well as being able to make the shots. It is not narrow and restrictive, but it is not wide open either. Elevation changes on many holes as well as dog legs creates the challenge. Utilizing GolfNow, I was able to play this semi private course for $35 with a p.m. tee time. Extremely worth it. I highly recommend Knob Hill and GolfNow.
Great Condition Very Nice Condition Overall
Enjoyed this course. Very good condition. Well maintained from the parking lot to the clubhouse and throughout the entire course.
Only complaint is in some green side bunkers the sand was of poor quality with many stones in it.
Very Pleasant Course
Got a GolfNow HotDeal for $35. Well worth it. Very good condition all around. Fairways not as narrow as i feared. Greens challenging but not difficult. Will return but not at full price.
