Weequahic Park Golf Course

When I arrived I was informed that the golf now reservation would not be honored. They said I could cancel if I’d like but I would have to pay the full weekend adult rate if I wanted to play. They also charged my 9yr old the full adult weekend rate.

The course was in bad condition, but I somewhat expected that. I had played here once before so my expectations weren’t that high.

When we finished we were approached on the 18th green by a manager who informed me that his team had made a mistake and my son would not be allowed to play there again. I thought he was joking since my son had actually beat the guy we were playing with and had just birdied 17. We had been waiting most of the morning so it couldn’t be pace of play. He informed me that it didn’t matter how well my son played, they don’t allow anyone below 11yrs old. So much for developing the next generation of golfers, but my favorite part was that he pulled up his phone and said, “See, it says it right here on golf now, no one below 11” NOW you want to use golf now as a reference point when you didn’t honor their reservation earlier!!! I couldn’t believe it.

The course is just a disaster on just about every level possible, and the management proved to be the worst part.

I’ll be reaching out to Golf Now to ask that they be removed from the site. They shouldn’t be on here if they aren’t going to honor their reservations.

I used to love this course, but this year most of the greens are unplayable due to most all of the pin locations located on the worst slopes possible. The greens on holes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16 and 17 were all nearly impossible to play. Countless shots within a few inches of the hole rolled back or away, often farther back than the original putt. No. 16 is a joke and you can often hear players chanting, "Bye, bye!" when anybody's putting since the ball most always rolls back off to the bottom of the green. Whoever is choosing these pin locations either knows nothing about golf or doesn't like his job. I've spoken to many players lately who are looking to play elsewhere because of this. Havin said all of that, if the holes were played in more reasonable spots, this would be a decent, playable course.

I have been playing here for some time. Now, the course is no longer honoring the price on Golf Now. When I showed up (I was walking), they insisted the course charges weekend rates on Fridays (which may be fair), but completely not the price I booked to play. Therefore demanded I paid a premium to play or they wouldn’t honor my reservation.

Unreal.

Course is so worth it at $40 to walk on a Friday. (Prices have gone up to $50 on Friday now but still good value). Holes 9 and 18 are very steep so walking up is tough but rest of the course is very walkable. Condition was amazing for the price. Greens were fast and in good condition. The pin locations are interesting which makes putting a challenge. Tee boxes were well taken care of all things considered as well. We had a slow group in front of us but otherwise it was a great day. Being in newark allows tee times to be available, since some people are scared to travel here, another plus. Good job Essex county for taking good care of this course. 2 thumbs up!

First time playing the course, it was in pretty good condition for what I was expecting. The greens were lightning fast and are a little too undulating with some horrible pin positions. I imagine that is because they are so undulating, and that provides for a few pin placements.

The pace of play just really needs to be addressed. The Ranger was there and yelled at us, but there’s nothing we can do because we were backed up behind foursomes that were taking forever.

I’m pretty tightly out and people are constantly hitting from other fairies which isn’t a problem and it’s nice when you have the occasional push slice. Lol

This is the perfect place to take your wife, I actually had mine with me for the day, and it was a wonderful time. The carts are nice too.

Would recommend but be ready for an interesting putting round.

It was my first time and everything was very good but specially the staff.

The course is beautiful especially greens but off course amenities are none, spoke to one staff and asked why they are not starting kitchen when they have all equipment. They should do something in this regard

Really nice staff and easy to get situated for your outing. The course is crammed into a small space and utilizes the small space fairly well. Course is in okay shape, no cart service and the average skill of players around is not very high.

Overall it's good value but don't expect more.
