Golfer Reviews
Aerating
Be aware they are aerating the greens on 6/24 and it doesn’t mention that on Golf No
Always a great day
Course was in great condition with no restrictions after a night of rain.
Cart girls found us 3 times and also had Icarus cans.
Never a bad time at Galloping Hill.
Nice Course, But Overpriced for a Municipal — Practice Facilities Need Work
Solid municipal track, but pricier than you’d expect for the category — especially stacked up against Bethpage’s courses, which deliver more value at a similar or better standard.
The driving range is decent, but the range balls need an upgrade — they’re in rough shape and don’t give a true read on ball flight or distance. The practice area is also missing a bunker, so there’s no way to work on greenside sand shots before a round. The practice green has no holes cut, which makes it tough to actually dial in speed and read.
On the course, the white tees play short on the card, but don’t let that fool you — try to overswing and reach greens in fewer shots than intended, and the tighter corridors and green complexes make you pay for it. Precision matters more than raw distance here.
Bottom line: A fun, tricky layout worth playing, but the practice facilities need investment and the pricing feels steep for a municipal course.
Lovely Course with plenty of unique challenges
Course was in great condition despite a lot of rain the day before. Staff was courteous, amenities were excellent and great prices at the restaurant. Look forward to playing again soon!
Solid track
Really solid course. The greens were a little slow, but nothing that took away from the round. My only knock is that it's a bit too short to justify the price. That said, the course is in outstanding condition.
Great condition!
Galloping Hill was in perfect condition. While some of the holes are a bit close together, I found this course to be well worth it in every sense.
Great track
Course was in excellent shape. Greens were fair and the course was challenging, but fun. One of my favorites in NJ.
Good course with great practice facilities
I’m a 8.5hcp and enjoyed this course as it didn’t feel like it was next to a freeway…if actually felt more like a dinosaur was going to pop out from all the wet lands & weeping willows. It also had a lot of revelation changes. I appreciated using many different clubs off the box. I was thankful for the several full water coolers at the tee boxes to fill up my bottle. My only negative are that the greens are a tad slow & have a “viral” grass going over the other greens grass, with that said…no need to read a lot of break out just hit the back of the cup. I’ll be back
Fun day
Some challenging holes, very firm greens, not a long course, only down side some holes a bit noisy , very close to the parkway.
Great course
As a beginner golfer, this was a really good course. The hole layouts are challenging with plenty of changes in elevation and a variety of holes with narrow and open fairways. I saw plenty of golfers walking, I love walking but after finishing I am glad a took a cart. My only issue with the course was the 12th hole white tee box. I am assuming it is under repair. But for now, there is a large wooden box with carpet hitting mat as your tee box. I tried hitting off it, but it was extremely difficult. Other than that, one issue, the course is in great shape with fast greens. I would highly recommend trying it out for yourselves.
Well maintained, great conditions, great value
Reasonably priced compared to others in the area for what you get. Great range, very friendly staff. Great bar and food that you can access at the turn. Course was in perfect shape and the green were pristine, but lightening fast.
Also a great 9 hole that isn’t a pitch and putt. Full 9 holes.
Great course
Came to play 18 holes with friends fI r the first time and had a great time
