East Orange Golf Course

The area and restaurant are amazing…staff and course condition not so much. Rangers non-existent, leading to log jams. 10th hole drink shack staff seemed upset to have customers. Conditions absolutely awful (Storm Ida did not cause all of this, as it was rough the first time I played as well). Fairways poor condition, greens might as well be a garden with how many weeds were growing. Disappointing because the location is amazing and would be a great course if they took care of the course. On site restaurant is great too.

Me and a few buddies from college that flew in from places like Colorado, Minnesota, etc wanted to golf on a weekend off from college lacrosse. I’m from this area, so I played there at the very least once every other week over the summer, so I was quite familiar with the course. We booked several tee times in effort to keep the pace of play normal and reasonable. A couple kids did not have clubs on them (they flew into jersey) so we borrowed clubs. Right when we get to the first tee, the ranger gives us grief. Keep in mind, we’re playing best ball. As we get to the ball we decide to play, he tells us the front desk said we are getting refunded and have to leave. When I get to the front desk to try to understand what just happened, he gives us a power trip, saying how it’s “standard golf rules” for every golfer to have a full set of clubs, even though we are college freshman and some just could not bring their clubs due to flying out. They don’t even have club rentals! Horrible. It’s gonna be very tough to go back there again after service like that.

Average layout and greens are firm with little grass on them. It's a nice course to practice your swing. Very informal. I think 12 handicaps will not like it

For $30 it is worth the price. For $30, they only need a ranger who goes around the course (most at the 10th hole) to keep people up with pace of play. The course is short and relatively flat and should not take more than 4 hours. Nor worh paying $60 t o play here, but it is for $30.

This course was great for what we wanted — an affordable course for beginners/a relaxed day of golf. The greens and course overall were dry, but that was fine for our purposes.

The course was very dry. i know we have had a long stretch of days where it has been over 90 degrees. But the course seemed like it was not being watered at all.

Played here for the first time in 10+ years. Impressed with their new facilities - clubhouse, range and restaurant all really nice. The golf course, not so much. Groups were already backed up on the first tee at 8 am, the starter sent us off the back to speed things up which was nice. 10th green has mounds of dirt made by "cicada killer" hornets, which forced me to move my ball since it was in my line. This was the case on a couple other greens also. Another green on the back 9 had an enormous bare spot - pics attached. Other than that the greens were in good shape, and most tee boxes were ok.. Some of the rough is just unmanaged, tangled crab grass, and the cart paths are loose gravel which makes using a hand cart difficult. Fairways were bare in some areas. , I did not expect much from this course - but it is better than it used to be. Staff were friendly except for one real nasty guy at the concession stand at the 10th hole. I don't know if he was trying to be funny or just plain foul mouthed and rude. I think the latter.

No rangers. People in front of us. Sharing clubs. I don’t know how the starter didn’t see it. Oh yeah he never gets off the seat of his cart he’s sitting in.

Played today and found the course overall okay. But and theres always a but, the greens were a throwback to the days the greens were made of sand. Evey green had a layer of sand that certainly affected the putts. Typically greens get a layer of sand after they are aerated...which these were not. So whats up with that? Like I began, an okay course that could use some TLC,

The greens are EXTREMELY SLOW because they have laid so much sand on them. The conditions completely threw off my game.

Not worth the $20 I paid for 9 holes. Likely won’t go back anytime soon.

From time to time there were areas that rough, fairways and fringes could have been grown more. They put sand on the greens, so that made putting more challenging. Otherwise, the pace of play was 3:45 and the group I was paired with was fun/talkative.

Not the most challenging course but always pleasant. Staff and starter are friendly. Only issue on this particular day was the group in front of us slowed the pace for everyone behind them. It would be nice for a ranger to make the slow groups keep a decent pace and avoid backing up everyone else.
