Preakness Valley Golf Course - East

Played 9 here prior and had zero complaints and loved the East Course.

For the West Course however, had an awful experience… The starter yelled at me for being 1 minute late to my tee time… 1 minute!! Mind you i got there 20 minutes early to check in, only to be online behind 5 people who were checking in ahead of me, which took forever. Maybe they should come up with a better faster and more efficient check in system to expedite check ins! Then on the first hole after already being yelled at by the rude starter, he had the audacity to tell us to pick up the pace…:when we were halfway down the fairway….on our SECOND Stroke. Our experience from start to end was not pleasant and felt overly rushed. We got approached 4 more times throughout our play here telling us we need to play at “Rapid Pace” … yet we finished 18 in a little under 4 hours. Their pace of play seems to be highly unreasonable and unrealistic. Friendly staff in the golf house, but highly unreasonable rangers who aggressively made us feel uncomfortable and rushed. Lived around the corner my whole life yet this experience makes me reconsider ever giving this course a dime of my money again. It’s a shame because it’s a nice course.

This course is always an enjoyable round and usually in great shape. I always have fun whether I play East or West. West is a more challenging course especially on the greens and is a bit tighter. East is more open and slightly easier to score on. Their clubhouse has phenomenal food too, I recommend the hamburger sliders.

Very well kept county course- by far in top 10% of conditions for NJ. Pace was good. Staff friendly and helpful. Layout isn't great as holes are short and very close to each other- but from what I heard, it's a very old course so makes sense. I'd play again for sure

Course is very well maintained. Couple of odd layouts (hole 7 and 8) but overall a clean wide open course. Moves along well.

First time playing a public course in New Jersey and had a fun time. Friendly staff and very polite Starter on the West Course. Used the driving range. Used the putting green which only downfall was the sand covered it.

Can’t wait to play again!!!

East course in great condition however play is slow. Need marshal to move things along

Great course, but slow pace at times. Still one of my favorite places to play.

This is one of my go to courses. It’s a great combination of fun yet challenging. Totally walkable if you have the push cart. Staff is always friendly and doing everything they can to take care of the course. Especially at this time of the season, the boxes and greens were in incredible shape.

I played my best game of the season on the East course on Saturday. Despite a 40 minute delay of heavy rain we still finished 18 in 3.5 hrs. We were going to call it quits after 9 but then the rain turned to just cloudy with no humidity or rain and we finished the back 9. The other 2 people were were playing with bailed and I assume others did the same hence the fast play.

The course held up well in the rain. The greens were slightly slower and no bounce on the fairways. The grounds crew however couldn't tell me if the course remained open after the rain . They looked confused.

After we finished we went to grab bite answer treated to a live band playing 40s and 50s big band music. A very entertaining day
