Dogwood/Oak Tree at Middle Island Country Club
About
Middle Island Country Club sits almost at the center of Long Island and has been one of the area's most popular public golf courses since first opening in 1965. The 27-hole course is divided into three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire layout was carefully carved from 225 acres of the Lustengarten Nursery. Middle Island's Dogwood/Oak combination features narrow fairways lined with trees. The greens on the front nine are the most challenging of any of the three nines. They have subtle breaks that leave many golfers wondering how they "just missed" it. The Oak nine is almost as tough, but you will get a slight break. It requires careful course management since there are many doglegs that can make it play longer than what's indicated on the scorecard.

We had a great day spruce to Oak
Greens air rated about a month ago, sometimes slightly affecting puts , the rain, very helpful, beautiful emerald gem
Terrible pace of play.
Had a foursome in front of us that only had two golf bags. They were driving from one opposite side to the other and then took turns putting until everyone was in. Absolutely nuts. No Ranger to be seen. At least 4 twosomes let out. A shame because the course is nice and greens were in great shape.
Can’t go back until they get their act together.
Consistently Well Maintained
Middle Island never disappoints. Beautiful course with a challenging layout. Going value
Pocono Manor Review
Nice traditional facility. Weather was frigid with wind gusts of 20 mph + so not a typical round. Greens need work / obviously aerated recently.
Pace of play
The last few times I’ve played pace of play is terrible. Didn’t bother finishing after we finally skipped ahead of the super slow groups in front of us. There was 3 holes empty in front of them. Saw a group of six players ahead of us and said we are done after sitting on every hole and in every fairway. Definitely frustrating. Three courses. Shouldn’t happen on a Tuesday.
Course was very Nice , in very good shape.
Had a Nice Round with my wife. We Enjoyed the Course and found it Challenging but not overwhelming.
Greens Punched
Pace of play was horrendous. 3rd group out and we had to wait for the second group all day! The first group finished
Lost an hr before us. Greens were atrocious! Punched greens I understand but they don’t even have enough sand in em to actually eoll
Interesting visit
I wanted to walk but they don't allow walking. That's enough to keep me away and prevent me from recommending the course to others. Carts are slower than walking and this is a perfect example of why. Balls are going every which way and there's too much travel and not enough play.
From a course perspective I felt the course maintenance was slightly improved from the past several years which were a steady decline.
If walking becomes available I will return if not, I'll be elsewhere.
Crazy people
This golf course is crazy! The reason is the hot deal price is only $54 for walking only, while the regular price including a cart is $67. Please, I beg you, get rid of the hot deal! It's confusing. Golf courses that aren't making money have a reason. Learn from Willow Creek Country Club.
Solid course
Great course great pace of play. There was a frost delay, but we got through. It ended up playing so that our time an hour, but overall solid spot.
