Dogwood/Oak Tree at Middle Island Country Club
About
Middle Island Country Club sits almost at the center of Long Island and has been one of the area's most popular public golf courses since first opening in 1965. The 27-hole course is divided into three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire layout was carefully carved from 225 acres of the Lustengarten Nursery. Middle Island's Dogwood/Oak combination features narrow fairways lined with trees. The greens on the front nine are the most challenging of any of the three nines. They have subtle breaks that leave many golfers wondering how they "just missed" it. The Oak nine is almost as tough, but you will get a slight break. It requires careful course management since there are many doglegs that can make it play longer than what's indicated on the scorecard.

Nice to get out to play golf
Several holes were difficult to play due the snow and ice remaining from the earlier bad weather. Nevertheless we had a great golfinf day after 2 months of being inside. The staff were very accommodating and friendly .

Winter Golf
The course was nice and well maintained. It was a cold day so the course was pretty empty. The greens at this time of year were rock hard and it was pretty tough getting a T in the ground. However, still had a great day. If your dress right you can still have a lot of fun on this course. I would golf here again for sure.
Winter golf
The course was great ,all greens open.
The only issue was the weather was a little cold and my buddy dropped out .
I got stuck paying all green fees and charges
Don’t seem right
That’s golf I guess !!!!
Winter Golf
First off...
$80 for this course on December 27th?
That's a stretch for this course in the summer.
Pro shop is severely lacking
Well run course
Played on a day with a frost delay. it was handled very well and everyone seemed to be accommodated. Course in very good shape for this time of year. Pace was excellent despite the full crowd..
Terrible experience
Starter on this day was completely inept. There was a back up and many people waiting to tee off - our tee time was shortly after noon and we finally teed off at about 12:30. Starter assigned us to dogwood/spruce. Waited on every hole. When we finished dogwood we headed over to spruce (we were 2 women). A group of 4 men cut us off going to spruce as well. These men who were incredibly rude kept yelling that they would be fast and we wouldn’t have to wait. I tried to interject through their yelling that we should speak to the starter. After a few choice words they just bullied through ahead of us.... the starter was right there, heard the whole thing and ignored the ruckus. We ended up finishing our round on Oak. It was a terrible experience and the starter was totally useless and did not do his job.
3 and a half hours to play front 9
I’ll start off with the positives, for winter golf the course was still in good condition. However, the starter was completely incompetent. He couldn’t hear anything so you had to yell plus he was pulling his mask down constantly to talk... during a pandemic. He then jammed tee times on top of each other and got groups confused. The ranger was also incompetent instead of enforcing pace of play he just kept picking up balls that people WERE PLAYING. It took 3 and a half hours to play the front 9 alone. This place charged full price for half price services.
LATE TEE TIMES DO NOT WORK AT MIDDLE ISLAND CC
It's understandable when you get a.late tee time that you might not finish. It's unacceptable when the foursomes jammed out in front of you slow the pace to a crawl and you play 11 of 18 holes. And going into the pro shop to discuss a credit for nine holes was met with an arrogance that should never happen in customer service. Too bad because course itself was in great shape and well maintained.
Excellent Day on Course
Course was very well kept and I thought worth the $60 including cart. However you have to wait until off season to get a good rate like this. Usually overpriced compared to other courses which keep their green fees lower. For me I enjoyed the course and found all of the holes unique and very challenging. I will return for sure if I can get the same value......
