About
Middle Island Country Club offers 27 holes of championship golf. It is one of Long Island's most popular public golf courses. It sits almost right at the center of the island, surrounded by the Lustengarten Nursery. The holes are divided into three nines and played as different 18-hole combinations. The Oak/Spruce Course begins with the shortest of the three nines, but there are some tricky doglegs that can make it play longer than what it says on the scorecard. Middle Island's Spruce nine was renovated in 2008, which added an island green on the par-4 seventh and more tee boxes to allow for women, seniors, and championship play. It's the most player friendly of the three nines, with wide fairways and generous greens that give you the freedom to grip it and rip it.

Golf Outing
Played in a golf outing, the course was in good condition. After playing we had a luncheon and they did not have enough hamburgers, the server kept telling us that food was being prepared and the hamburgers would be served shortly. They never served us the hamburgers. How do you not have enough hamburgers? They also did not serve us coffee or tea.
Very disappointed ☹️. If you are thinking of having an outing at this golf course make sure that you are guaranteed enough food for you group.
Last Day of Summer
Perfect day to play today. 8 AM tee time Spruce to Dogwood. Spruce is my favorite nine of the 3 and course is in great shape. Golfers should do a better job of repairing ball marks but I see this everywhere. Could have a few more deals but at least tee times are available even the day before.
Sorry to be negative…..
The pace of play is horrible and no one is checking these people. If I tee off at 7 AM I should not leave the course at 11:30.

Fun course but they recently aerated the greens so every green was covered in samd and still charged full price for weekend tee time
Greens
The greens had more sand than a bunker! Air raiding is one thing this was even worse. Should be a discount if the greens are like this
Decent course but price seems too high
Found out on first green that they aerated day before. Would have been nice to know before booking tee time at full price.
This place blows
Worst round I ever played this last week I’m my golfing career….there was more sand on the greens than the bunkers, they didn’t post that they air rated the day day before Labor Day none the less and still banged you for $90. They never accommodate you or go out of their way to Make the experience better. They had the crew out there at 5am on Labor Day continuing to air rate even the one and only practice green, this place just doesn’t get it. By far my least favorite corse on this island and I play them all…it’s easy to see why this is the only corse with tee times available every week. I’ve played here pretty often over my golfing career but I’m done, if there the only place with a time I’d rather not play them support these losers.
Poor course managment
4 1/2 hours to play a round is annoying and unacceptable. Foursome in front of us hitting multiple balls all day.
The greens are horrific
To charge someone $90 with greens like that is a crime. They were air rated and covered in sand. Not worth the money.
Cow pasture with decent greens
I played the Oak course today. I thought that new management would have put some money into course but no.
Seems to have gone backwards in regard to maintenance.
Too bad as course layout is good and greens where not in bad condition.
Maybe next season will be better.
Condition
Aeration made greens impossible to putt with any sense of confidence on the line. Sand traps were poorly kept, with pebbles, rocks. And the tee boxes were awful: many barren. Fairways were in good condition.
