Willow Creek Golf & Country Club
About
Willow Creek Golf & Country Club in Mount Sinai sits on Suffolk's scenic north shore. Opened in 2005, it is one of Long Island's newest golf courses but it has already established a reputation for being one of the area's most visually impressive. What makes the course stand out is the abundance of both sand and water. The number of bunkers on the golf course comes close to the triple digits and water appears on 12 holes. The lightning fast, wildly undulating greens are a challenging complement to the hazards. The layout presents a formidable test for even the best players. One of Hamlet Willow Creek's most difficult holes is the monstrous ninth, which features water on both sides of the seemingly endless fairway. With so much water, golfers almost forget about the three large bunkers that are also treacherously lurking on this hole.

First Tee Photo submitted by u000007034608 on 10/30/2013
Unfortunate Round
Today's outing was tarnished due to a group of entitled and impatient old men behind us and the course ranger's inaccurate accusation that our group was the cause of slow play. We had been waiting to tee off every hole as did the group ahead of us. We felt rushed to the point we picked up and moved on to only wait at the next tee. One member of a group left after the 10th due these individuals.
Our group unanimously agreed not to return.
Alittle wet but what a course
This is my first time playing this course. The design is truly amazing for the price. The only downfall I saw was there is a very large rock presence in the sand traps. Other than that, everything was great. It was supposed to rain all day. We ended up being the only ones out there and had a three hour 18 hole round.. definitely going to go back to much warmer.
Baseball size rocks in every bunker
Course is usually really nice. Its sadly gone a bit downhill over the past few years. The bunkers are especially bad, with huge rocks and tons of other smaller rocks scattered all over them. For the price they charge, you shouldn't have to ruin your clubs in the sand. Greens were recently punched and seem to be filling in pretty well. Overall average-below average experience, just knowing how well kept the course was in the past
Above the course, but the bunkers need work
I’ve played this course dozens of times. I always enjoy it and love the layout. Currently it’s aerated so you have to take that into consideration however that’s never an issue for me, they have to keep the greens healthy. The bunkers however were just filled with rocks. I don’t ever remember it being like this and it needs attention for sure
Conditions
Willow Creek in the past had great conditions. We all know it's early in season but for price they charge and conditions we will not play here again. Bunkers are dirt filled with large stones - around the driving range, range balls are all over nearby fairways. Greens have stones on them from bunker shots.
Course conditions
Greens were fine for after aerating a few weeks ago. Bunkers were horrible!!! Never seen so many rocks in them. It’s the beginning of the season, but the eicks were boulders!! Not acceptable for this course or price
Worst conditioned bunkers
Bring an old set of clubs to this course. Don’t ruin your new ones. Never played a course where the bunkers (and there are many) are nothing but rock pits. Not small rocks but big ones. No sand to speak of. It’s embarrassing that a course charging a premium would neglect a main feature this much. It’s a shame because I do like the layout a lot.
Price gouging during Ryder cup?
You guys are a disgrace. Charging double what they usually charge during the week leading up to and during the Ryder cup. Hard pass and will never play here again
Great Course
A very challenging course, with lots of water and bunkers that make it difficult. My only complaint is that there is no walking rate; they give you a cart included but I prefer to walk the courses I play.
A bit of sand
If you like bunkers and a challenging course then this one is for you. Beautiful layout.
One of the best on LI
It’s always a pleasant experience at this beautiful course. They do a lot to ensure enjoying a round of golf. Thank you
