The Golf Club at Middle Bay
About
The Golf Club at Middle Bay is located on Long Island's south shore overlooking the barrier islands of Jones Beach, Point Lookout, and Lido Beach. Nearly every hole looks out across water. Though the golf course is just an hour outside of New York City, you'll feel as though you've been whisked off to an out-of-town resort. The layout has a challenging design that will test your accuracy with tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers. Wind will also be a factor on this golf course. The Golf Club at Middle Bay is a tough but fair layout that players of all skill levels will enjoy. In addition to the golf course, there is also a driving range available.

Best shape ever
Best shape I have ever seen this course and greens in. New GPS carts are great. Stunned at 4:15 round on July 4th for a 4some.
Fjorge
Course in very good shape overall. Greens are fast
Great Course
Challenging course. Enjoyed everything about it.. Good People
A Ranger with an attitude
Pace of play was just fine. We finished our around in four hours and three minutes however on the 13th tee box, Mr. happy comes by and tells us with a severe attitude, telling uswe have to keep up pace with the guys in front of us meanwhile, the guys in front of us are just passed the sand trap alongside the driving range
We were a threesome the foursome behind us was a hole and a half behind!
As we got to the tee box on 14 the group of women were on 17green!
I understand Pace of play can get backed up, but in this case there was no reason for Mr. happy to have an attitude none!
Everyone else from the counter staff to the starter to the concession woman everybody was kind, polite, and happy there was no need for Mr. happy to have an attitude one day somebody’s gonna tell him to shut the “F” up
One day that guy is gonna get hit by someone 🤷♂️ love you, Course the track is beautiful and today when we needed some wind, there was none to be hard. Greens were pretty fast, fairways, beautiful, and the rough very far and the sand one of the best out in Nassau.
Worth the haul from NYC
I usually play the course once or twice a year, but this was my first time in three years mainly owing to the insanely stupid drive required from upper Manhattan (2 hours to drive home 22 miles). That said, this links course is in great shape and lovely to walk or ride. Greens were fast, firm and true. The new clubhouse is welcoming, as is the staff (as always). A couple of "to dos" for the course: Many of the cart paths and dirt paths are in need of repair. Consider moving up the Gold tees; seniors like me will appreciate it!
A public course with a private feel.
I got dehydrated today and fainter on the 8th jole and the staff could not have been more supportive. I wish I could say the same for Golf Now, but that is a separate issue.
Gem of a course!
Just played the course and the greens are in phenomenal shape. The course has grown in beautifully this year (as usual) with the fairway, first cut, rough and bunkers well-mantained... The new clubhouse is beautifully done, offering equipment and accessories second-to-none. Friendly staff and an awesome experience. Thanks to Ron and the staff this place is always top pick for me. Keep up the good work and thanks for offering us this diamond in the rough on the South shore.
Overall a good golf course
Greens are very good, but since public can't be very fast. Goose leavings were annoying. Tees could be better. Very nice design and can be tough with strong winds coming off the water. Good value.
Never going back!
The course itself is in good shape, but I won’t be returning. Throughout our round, a staff member sporting a 1930s style mustache repeatedly drove around in a cart, pressuring us to speed up, even though we were clearly keeping pace. Our foursome finished in 4 hours and 10 minutes (official tee time: 9:51, finish: 2:00), which is completely reasonable. He came by multiple times, once claiming we were “8 minutes off pace” whatever that means. We were literally waiting on the group ahead of us at several holes. Instead of enjoying a relaxing round, we spent much of it being interrupted, which really took away from us just enjoying golf. Afterward, I brought it up with the manager, whose response was, “Well, it’s better than taking six hours at Bethpage.” That’s not the kind of of response u want hear from someone who is running facility.
1. This course is nowhere near the level of Bethpage.
2. It’s far from the only option on Long Island.
I strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you want to enjoy a peaceful, uninterrupted round of golf.
Course is well kept and the staff is great here.
Always a great time playing here, especially on a beautiful day. The greens were run and the course is always a nice challenge. Can’t wait to get out there again soon
Golfing Pleasure
This course combines the features of both Northern and Southern golfing with water and winds off the bay to trees and tight fairways further inland. You get to play two courses in one. They keep the fairways and greens in pristine condition.
Had a had a great time with my friends on this very nice course.
Love golf
Staff was friendly, course was in great shape, pass was good. Golf is just getting expensive for the average player, especially if you’re retired. It’s a Shame.
