I love Saxon woods. The course is kept in excellent condition especially given the amount of play it gets. Those in the pro shop are always courteous. The price is very fair especially for a senior with a park pass and a calendar card. My only complaint is the sand traps which are often basically out of sand. Still it is my favorite place to play.

Matthew in the pro shop a slam-dunk for all-star enthusiasm, helpfulness, and that rare ability to treat someone like a customer. Very old school indeed.

This facility has everything you could want, sans a lighted driving range with heat, target greens, and all of the trimmings like a place to practice chipping.

But the practice green, and what they made do with space-wise for the modified-distance range balls, is pretty good, especially give the 10th hole plays straight through!

A familiar horn automatically warns range customers when players are passing through. Very tidy way if managing things, and a win/win for all.

The golf course is in stunning condition. Probably the best all year. I do believe we have 40-degree weather next week, but try to get out there now. The greens are as beautiful as anywhere in the MET area. Same for the fairways and tees. Just love the bent grass when it is so lush and green.

The layout always finds a way to unravel me. That's the point, eh? Defense of Old Man par. Good design, and plenty to think about with those subtle elevation changes and doglegs.

I'll be playing this golf course for a long time. My home course is the Griff, but Saxon Woods is right there presently....

Nice course and friendly staff. the only downfalls were slow pace, but at least there was a ranger who worked to speed up play which was a plus and mostly flat greens.

Nice course. Good layout. Grounds crew does a nice job keeping the leaves off the fairway and greens. Greens roll true. Was here on a Monday and the kitchen/bar was closed. Not sure if this is a Monday thing but it was a rainy day so may not be enough business to warrant the labor costs.

Great challenging course. Friendly staff but pace of play was horrible. Conditions were good for this time of year. Will definitely golf here again and hope the pace of play is better.

Beyond the fistfights I see on this public course frequently, the 10th hole is unsafe. It crosses the Driving Range. There is a loud horn that lets you know to stop hitting, as a group is about to enter the range. There are also multiple signs that state that as a golfer, you should not enter the range to look for a ball you topped or play from the range itself.

This rule however is NOT ENFORCED. Group after group will enter the range, sift through balls, pick up balls, drop balls, and play their 2nd shot from the middle of the driving range.

On my day of play I watched 3 different groups play this way. Rangers took no action. When the 4th group passed through the range I picked up my club, and as I was "cold" at that point, blocked a shot in their direction. That group, prior to my swing, had turned around and RE-ENTERED THE RANGE! So I almost hit them. They charged at me from across the course, screaming obscenities. Of course there was little I could do but offer a screamed apology. They then slowly exited the range, I changed clubs, and when I returned to the hitting zone they had RE-ENTERED THE RANGE A 3RD TIME!.

Now I let them have it, screaming they needed to get clear, they weren't following the rules, and so on.

At that point a ranger angrily and loudly confronted me about "intentionally hitting into a group". It was heated to the point that a punch was almost thrown. Between our yelling at one another I pointed out that I was the only one out there "following the rules". He backpedaled and let me tee off, but when I confronted him at the end of the round he refused to admit any wrongdoing on his staffs part, and claimed that if someone gets hit on the range the county will close it down.

So please, someone from the county, CLOSE DOWN THE RANGE and retrain your rude staff.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised and impressed with conditions and pace of play this season at Saxon Woods. Excellent perk and deal for County pass holders/residents.

Pace of play was horrible. We could finish this rounding in longer than 5 hours on weekday. The course was very distracted. Especially the 10th hole was sharing the fairway with driving range. It is so weird. I got very disappointed.
